Greetings fellow travelers...

I know. It's been awhile -- I took a much needed mini sabbatical from writing in favor of some balancing manual labor. You see, I recently wrapped up about a year of non-stop writing. Seriously, I pretty much did nothing else (except put on more than a few pounds that are finally starting to get the hint and hit the road).

iTarot. Do you Tarot?

Some of you might have noticed that our Tarot here at Astrology.com has been updated and expanded, I believe for the better. But what you might not know yet is that I've also created new spreads and written over six thousand fresh interpretations for our new iTarot apps, including those for the recently released iPad, all of which can be found over at the iTunes store. (My husband does all the Tarot-related programming and we've got more new goodies in the works even now.) We had a few bumps in the road along the way with the iTarot, but the versions available now are chock full of exclusive features, and are pretty decent apps if I do say so myself. If any of you are already enjoying the new apps, a positive review would certainly provide us with a much appreciated vote of confidence.

Pick a Card, Any Card

Anyway, now that I'm here, I've a mind to explore some of the major self-portraits or "calling cards" we identify with, tune into, or that we leave behind as our vibe. Being so immersed in the Tarot over these many years I can't help but see myself, my life, and the world around me within the context of the inseparable interconnections and unfolding patterns that the cards contain and reveal. As a result, I often have trouble isolating any one card for myself without assuming or embedding all the rest of the supporting players and influences (but which came first...). Still, with an effort at not over-thinking it, I can pick a card, any card, off the top of my head that best describes a first level glimpse into "where I'm at," so to speak -- like a snapshot postcard and caption of a particular experience, intent, perspective -- even mood of the moment.

Which of the cards are you currently in tune with, most identify with, or gain dominant or regular inspiration from at this time? Don't over think it. What card might you assign to the last person you encountered. How about your boss, best friend, teacher, co-worker, child, nemesis, love interest, etc.?  What supporting cards might be called upon to qualify or explain your assignment or choice of card? Finally, which card, if any, did you tend to avoid, dismiss, or have trouble relating or connecting with? This latter would be a case of Conspicuous Absence and can reveal loads about the root or heart of a big picture matter. If you bring together the "in tune" and C.A. card an answer or challenge will often present itself in a way that, as my daughter and I joke "it's so obvious, it's profound!" Add to this any of the cards you assigned to your particular peeps and who knows what might be revealed.

Please feel free to share your experiences with this exercise -- I'd love to hear from you. Also, for those of you starting from scratch or who want to learn more about my Tarot basics don't forget to check out the Tarot 101 section somewhere here at Astrology.com.

Until next time...
