Certain Sun signs are dedicated individualists who refuse to compromise for anyone; others can happily merge their identity into their partner's way of life. Can you be in a relationship and still remain true to yourself?
Two signs which can co-exist in a relationship and yet remain their true selves -- albeit in very different ways -- are Aquarius and Scorpio.
Aquarius knows there's nothing more valuable than independence of mind and spirit, so it's no surprise that they demand a partner who shares their approach. This may result in an arm's-length relationship, but they'll be able to happily dance between their own interests and those of their partner without ever feeling diminished.
Scorpio, on the other hand, knows that they can only find their true identity through a close, passionate relationship. They have the ability to remain connected to their core even as they're engaged in a truly interdependent partnership.
Libra is known as the relationship sign of the zodiac, so these folks have a tendency to disappear into their partner's wishes and lifestyle. Their habit is to see their partner's point of view first, so they may end up feeling as if they have no true center.
Cancer is the family sign, so they draw strength -- and even self-esteem -- from being one of their tribe, if not the head of it. Less robust Cancerians have a way of losing themselves amid group identity, so they may need to push harder to let their own individual voice be heard.
Aries, Taurus and Leo are all sturdily strong signs that certainly enjoy being in a partnership ... but they also often insist that their wishes come first. They'll set the pace while expecting their significant other to follow along.
Capricorn knows that staying true to themselves means being a high achiever in the external world. Although they appreciate a good relationship, these folks can make their partner feel as if they'll always take a back seat to their own career ambitions.
Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius are all highly adaptable signs, so each will try to bend to their partner's wishes in their own way.
Pisces is often in danger of losing their own identity in an effort to fit in for the sake of support. They tend to escape into their own imagination as a way to give themselves sustenance; as a result, they run the risk of avoiding meaningful relations.
Virgo is incredibly self-sufficient, so they often resist committed relationships for fear of giving up too much of their own life.
Gemini, although flexible, gets bored easily. If they're pulled too far from what they want for themselves, they'll soon wander off in search of their own kind of fun and satisfaction.
And finally, ever-independent Sagittarius will insist on making their own voice heard as they express their dislike for having their needs suppressed. But eventually, for the right person, they'll relent.
