Being a Balanced Mom
On behalf of moms everywhere, all we need is balance because although we are called to be a mother -- we aren’t just "moms". We are multi-dimensional beings with a matrix of feminine energies. In being so celestial, these energies are astrologically represented by three goddesses: Ceres, Venus and Juno. Each has down-to-earth advice that mothers need, suggesting that more sleep, less housework, enjoying our bodies, and having more fun can help us accomplish our dreams. Read on to learn how to stay balanced -- and to find out which goddess to call upon when imbalances need remedying.

Ceres, The Earth Mother.
Personality: The giver, caretaker, need provider.
Main Objective: To care for and comfort.
Too Much Mama: Martyred self-sacrifice, smother-mothering.

Ceres is the patron of motherhood, strong in any person with a mothering instinct. She is the safe harbor and provider for loved ones, so essential to protecting and caring for life. Yet for women of a certain age (those of us married or with kids) the Earth Mother can dominate a woman’s feminine matrix. Inspired to provide and support, she is appreciated but doesn’t necessarily inspire others to reciprocate, which can lead to big-time burnout and exhaustion. If your Earth Mother has gone overboard, or you find yourself in need of nurturance, practice drawing boundaries around your time, and taking time to yourself. Get more sleep. Take care of something important to you and it will give you energy back, like a garden.

Venus, the Temptress.
Personality: Flirty, fun, sexy.
Main Objective: To appreciate life through creating. To enjoy sensual pleasure.

When Neglected: Lackluster sex life. Loss of body confidence. Too many track suits.

Most women in their teens and twenties easily embody the sensual Temptress, but as we begin to have and care for our children, to nurture the men in our lives, it's easy to lose touch with this flirty, fun and sexy energy. It may come as no surprise by now that one of the main culprits of temptress deficiency is sleep deprivation and working too much, which leads to the following symptoms: a lackluster sex life, lack of body awareness/confidence. Luckily there are simple remedies for getting back in touch with her: dance,  yoga, rollerskating -- you get the idea. Instead of spending your extra energy (if and when you have it) on house projects, do things you really enjoy. Play! Make a commitment to relax more.

Venus Mantra: Life is fun. Today is another chance to feel good in my body ... and to play!

Juno, The Queen.
Personality: Noble, purposeful, passionate.
Main Objective: Ability to see a vision through. Inspires others to support her vision.
Too Much Juno: Drama queen, ice queen, lacking Temptress/Earth Mother.

The Queen has a vision and she wants to share it. Inspiring her partners to rise up to be their best self, she is a formidable and inspiring presence. But when she’s one-dimensional, she comes down too hard and has difficulty relaxing, softening being present, receiving. The Queen spearheads creative vision and can hatch a business plan with the best of them, but if the Earth Mother doesn’t draw boundaries on her time and give that creative visioning time to the Queen, or the Temptress is out of touch with her sensuality and doesn’t value play and having fun, the Queen’s ability to carry out her vision suffers.

Juno Mantra: I have a noble vision. When I live in balance, open to receive and have fun, I can effectively carry my vision through!
