I have been working out of our Brisbane office for the last few of weeks. For non Australian readers, Brisbane City (the capital of the northern state of Queensland) has recently been hit by devastating flood waters. For me personally this has meant a week of crisis management, a week of business continuity and now disaster recovery activities.
Generally as long as I can keep going I am OK, but the other day I stopped for just a moment & couldn’t see any light. It was too much.
As a Pisces, my reaction to stress is first to escape- either in tears, or by drinking too much or running away. Stress nearly always brings out our shadow side. But then to feel better, the 2nd house comes to the rescue. In my case this is Aries. So I got out in the heat & I walked & I sweated for 3 hours & I was better. Then I forced myself to write & be creative. I used the fire that I generated to bring myself back emotionally.
Like all Air signs, Aquarius is prone to mental burnout. He gets so into the cause that he forgets to eat, he forgets to stop & his brain goes into exhaustion. When Aquarius is stressed, the shadow he may descend into can be one of stubbornly sticking to an idea or a concept that is either inappropriate, no longer relevant or unsuccessful. His ego may come before the end goal. He may lose empathy & have difficulty connecting on a human or emotional front.
This is where Pisces can come to the rescue.
He needs to stop & escape. Let it go- all of it, just for a little while. Go for a swim, lie in a bath, get wet. If you can, take a day & run away. Allow that mental exhaustion to drift away. Allow yourself to feel.
Escaping will allow yourself to do what you do best- look dispassionately at the problem & evaluate it from a global view. Aquarius’ motivation is greater than personal ego- it is what makes you so good at thinking outside the square…but you can’t do this when the brain is tired beyond belief.
