Career changes, finding what you like or can do in life, don’t always just jump out at you. They may not always be so obvious. Some life changes kind of sneak up on you. You may even have to watch out for the signs to even know that they are there or you may already be doing for fun (or for your own sanity!) what you might be able to do for money and a job. Astrology does not so much promise anything to us, as open up opportunities or doors, and it is always up to us to walk through them. No one can do that for us.
I have always been struck by a phrase I once read in a Buddhist teaching that said that even if the Buddha were here in the room with us, he could not just reach over, just touch our forehead, and we would be enlightened. No teacher, Buddha, Christ, Mohammad, or what-have-you can do more than point out the way. It is up to us to walk that way. In other words, we each have to do it for ourselves. No one else can do our life for us. That is the whole point to spiritual teachings as I understand them.
That being said, I want to point out some of the signs in the heavens (and in the air around us) right now that point to career opportunities and a shift at least in emphasis in what we now do or how we might do what we now do differently. Since this is not a class, I am not going to take apart or parse astrologically every factor I am looking at. I will try to mention some of them, but my purpose here is to indicate something of the opportunities that are available to us (all of us) right now.
First, you may well have felt something moving inside you for some time now, perhaps an urge or desire to take care of business, and to just get more practical. Let’s just call it an urge to ‘do’ or incorporate some of what you have up to now only thought about into your life, and to make something of what you have recently dreamed (or daydreamed) about come true. This could even be related to making the more spiritual side of you (whatever you know that to be for you) matter more in your life.
Astrologically much of what I am pointing out here has already taken place or taken hold of you in your heart. It is already there. What is happening now and in the time to soon come is the opportunity to actually make that inner experience matter in your outer and everyday life. That is the opportunity I write about here.
When I speak of “career changes,” perhaps I should define just a bit what that boils down to in real life. ‘Career’ indications in astrology, in my experience, refer literally to the ‘way’ we go through life. Life can be seen as something we pass through, at times as even a series of obstacles we face and must negotiate. ‘Career’ or the planet Jupiter has to do with how we negotiate these obstacles, in fact, whatever (good or bad) challenges and opportunities that stand in the way of our life. In other words: I am referring to that through which we ‘have’ to pass. Got it?
So Jupiter is the way we go through life, as in the route or path we take around or through whatever we each face. In Hindu astrology, one of the main words for Jupiter is the Sanskrit word “Guru,” which suggests that Jupiter is the guru or our guide through the thickets of life (Saturn), or again: the way or path we go through life, our life path.
What I am suggesting here is that if we can let our mind rest a bit, we should be able to see some career or life-path related events already moving within us that now (or soon) may have the opportunity to actually materialize. In other words, we have already been shown the signs internally. It has already happened, but coming right up soon may be an opportunity for us to recognize these signs and make something we only dreamed of real and matter in our life.
And it may come as a bit of a surprise. That’s what I meant earlier when I wrote that it might sneak up on us. We have already thought or dreamed it, but have not made it real, have not made it ‘matter’ in our lives. This then is the opportunity to do just that.
I don’t want to go on and on here, but let me close by pointing out just a few more signs that we should or might be able to be aware of. For one, this mini-revelation may well come as a surprise to us, but one with a lot of heart, meaning it has to do with something that we really love or care about. That being said, it also may involve very personal and sensitive parts of our consciousness.
If we are afraid to touch into our vulnerabilities, then we may well let this opportunity for a change in what or how we go through our life pass unnoticed. That is: we may not want to go there (our vulnerable side), and if that is the way we feel, then we may not be in touch enough to seize this opportunity. It may take some bravery on our part to dare or reach out.
