Create Your Own Love Nest

"If you build it, they will come."

If you make sure your living space looks good, smells good and feels good, you can't fail. Sound simple enough? It is. Call upon the ancient art of Feng Shui to help you set your intention toward bringing more love into your life -- then let your inner home-makeover expert have free reign!

1. Start with your bedroom.
Though you may have a whole extra room available to devote to the art of love and pleasure, make sure your bedroom is in good love-nest shape before you expand to other areas of your home. Your basic needs for your bedroom are a comfy bed, two bedside tables, soft lighting and space for an altar (more on this below).

2. Color, color, color!
Bring color into your room using sensually draped fabrics, luxurious linens, art and candles. Traditional love-attracting colors are pink and red. Can't stand those hearts and candy hues? Try voluptuous shades of magenta or purplish tones. Though creativity is good when building your love nest, do try to stay away from whites and silver tones, as these are associated with metal in Feng Shui and create a sense of space and distance. If you're into clean lines and pure white, remember your objective here is to warm things up and get closer to the one you love. If you must include white, use it as a backdrop, punctuating it with ample splashes of dramatic, warmer tones in your accessories.

3. The nose knows.
Fill your romance room with enticing aromas. Is the object of your affection more vanilla or spice? Use candles, flowers and aromatherapy oils to enhance the environment, but go easy on the scents -- too much of a good thing can dampen the mood just as easily as it can rev things up.

4. Velvet, silk, lace ... or 300 thread-count Egyptian cotton?
Stay attuned to the textures and fabrics that make you feel the most sensual, and decorate liberally with these. Sheets, throw pillows and soft blankets are all examples of items you can surround yourself with for more sensual pleasure.

5. Little altars everywhere.
Designate a table, shelf or other surface in a special corner of your room that can serve as an altar. Place objects upon it that remind you of love, sensuality and pleasure. If you're already in a relationship, feature a blissful picture of you and your partner. Single? Place an image or statue of a couple to attract relationship energy your way. Fresh flowers, candles, hearts and other romantic, sensual items can be placed on your altar to help cultivate a focal point for love in your room.
