In Part I of this series, we looked at how to use the monthly lunar cycle to fuel your creative projects. From the new Moon to the following full Moon, we examined how to tap into energetic pivot points and merge them with your calendar.

In this article we're going to set our gaze a bit into the future -- six or twelve months ahead. Imagine you're writing a novel, a screenplay or songs for an album, or perhaps painting a series of canvasses for a gallery show. This is not quickie art -- your work needs time to ripen and develop.

Lunar cycles are excellent for this kind of long-term planning because this month's new Moon will be the full Moon of the same sign in six months. Here's how it works: in November of 2013, for example, the new Moon was in Scorpio, because the new Moon always corresponds the current position of the Sun. The full Moon, two weeks after the new Moon, will be in the opposite sign -- Taurus. This takes place each month: the New Moon in the Sun’s sign, the follow-up full Moon in sign opposite the current Sun sign.

Taking this one step further, if you initiate an art or writing project on or near the new Moon of any given month, you should ostensibly have made some major progress within a half a year -- at the full Moon six months later. That's the moment to check in and assess your progress. To further elucidate our previous example, if you started your project at the new Moon in Scorpio on November 3, 2013, by the full Moon in Scorpio on May 14, 2014, you should plan to have substantially developed the concept.

The energy of each sign can inform the quality of the work you're producing as well. Note the element the Full-New Moon is in by sign: Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) will have an emotional quality; Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) will have a passionate quality; Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) will have a grounded quality; Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) will have an analytical quality.

The power of all of the above is quadrupled when the New or Full Moon is in eclipse. Some astrologers would warn that it's dangerous to begin anything before an eclipse, but some of you artistic types love to court danger -- it only fuels your art. If you dare to begin your project near an eclipse, just be warned that you're inviting in some of the most intense, life-changing energy available in the universe.
