After its latest retrograde dance that had it sashaying between Aquarius and Pisces, messenger Mercury is now back in the poetic sign of Pisces for the next several weeks (it was there earlier in this cycle, January 31 to February 12). It just re-entered the making-the-invisible-visible sign on March 17 and will swim through it until April 7.
Mercury in Pisces inspires a time when our thoughts may seem more like poetry than prose, more spatial than linear, more drifting than single-focused. For some, this experience is liberating, allowing them to just surrender into perceptions that come through their intuitive mind, as they experience a process of thinking that seems more reflective than rational, more oriented in feelings than intellectualism. For others, it may trigger a bit of anxiety if they feel that their mind feels excessively foggy and/or seemingly waterlogged.
Given that Pisces reflects union and lack of demarcation, we may be able to tune more clearly into the thoughts and feelings of others; this can be quite profound and yet, if we don't consciously know we are doing this, it can also yield some disquietude. If you notice yourself feeling exceptionally fearful or stressful when the situation you are in objectively shouldn't yield that, consider whether it's truly your thoughts/feelings you're connecting to or those of others that you may be compassionately (although unknowingly) taking on. The awareness of this can be profound and be an important step back to a feeling of greater calm and centeredness.
Pisces urges us to surrender -- so one beautiful strategy is to do just that! See what happens when you give in to the stream of ideas that float in and out of your mind. Have faith there are messages in a bottle that can wash up on the shores of your consciousness. Reflecting upon your nighttime dreams, reading poetry, watching that cinematically grand film you've wanted to see, spending time capturing images with your camera … these are all wonderful ways to flow with Mercury in Pisces and be inspired by the gifts it offers. Of course, how you experience Mercury in Pisces depends upon your personal astrology chart. It also may ebb and flow throughout its three-week residence. For example, around March 22 when Mercury unites with everything-is-connected Neptune, the free-form nature of this energy may seem more amplified. Love is in the air, yet we need to watch that we aren't so connected to our ideals that we see things that aren't really there.
March 26 is another date to note, as that's when Mercury makes a harmonious trine to Jupiter. It may be a time when thoughts really flow. And when April 2 rolls around and Mercury trines Saturn, we've got an opportunity to take our messages and craft them in such a way that they have more substance and are, therefore, more likely to be noticed.
While meditation, gentle exercise, relaxing baths and working with dreams are all good practices during strong Pisces times (like this), there are also some flower essences that may be supportive. These include Star Tulip (to inspire a greater connection with one's intuitive side), Queen Anne's Lace (to help integrate and nurture the ability to "see" on a more subtle level), Shasta Daisy (to assist in the synthesis of a multitude of ideas into a unified whole) and Yarrow (to bolster compassionate awareness while maintaining healthy energetic boundaries).
With Mercury in Pisces, it's a time to have our perception be more heart-centered, practice loving kindness, and be inspired by our dreams.
