Q: My question is about Saturn in Libra. Is it tough for relationships in general or only for those whose sun sign or rising sign is Libra?
I am a Leo with Libra rising. Thanking you in anticipation, A
A: Saturn in Libra is generally about lessons and tests in relationships, but it only affects you if you personally have planets or significant chart points in Libra.
Saturn in Libra doesn’t make relationships hard for everyone!
In your case, your Venus actually falls at 29 Virgo, which means that in October 2009, April 2010 and July 2010 you are having a direct ‘hit’ from Saturn to your Venus. This is happening in the sign of Virgo, but is far more significant for you in terms of tests, challenges and commitments in relationships than Saturn in Libra generally.
When Saturn transits your Venus (just once in a 29 year cycle), you are asked to see love clearly. Relationships must be built on solid, real foundations, otherwise under Saturn’s pressure cracks are revealed. Maturity and honesty are important in relationships when Saturn transits your Venus, as are setting and maintaining healthy limits. If someone you love has overstepped your boundaries, don’t let it slide – say something! Saturn/Venus periods are times to see love as honoured work, rather than light and fluffy romance.
However, while Saturn is in Libra, you will have your coming of age Saturn return (September 2010) which is a great time to take stock of all your close partnerships. If you’ve outgrown someone, now might be the time to move on. If you’re totally in sync and committed, Saturn return could be the final piece of the puzzle that helps you make a longer term commitment. Either way, the choice is yours!
