Every new Moon represents opportunities for new beginnings, and when you combine this week’s energetic Aries new Moon (April 3) with the ringing in of the Spring Equinox (March 21) … kaboom! You have a day that astrologers worldwide mark as their official New Year!
The Moon emerges from her alignment with the Sun infused with new creativity and confidence -- especially strong at the Aries new Moon --representing an annual peak in the energy of new beginnings.
This is a powerful time for turning over a new leaf in all areas of your life. Under this influence you can draw upon the creative powers of the element of fire (Aries is a Fire sign), which highlights anything visual. This is why creating a collage now can help you move into an entirely new existence for the year ahead.
In her book ‘New Moon Astrology’, Jan Spiller describes this collage as your ‘Spring Equinox Treasure Map’. She says the best time for creating your collage is within two days of the Aries new Moon, when you can align your intentions and unspoken dreams with the most potent energy of the year.
To make an Astrological New Year Collage you’ll need:
-- a stack of magazines
-- cardboard or poster board
-- scissors
-- glue
-- ribbon, glitter, stickers, headings etc
Gather your materials but don’t begin creating your collage until the Aries new Moon has occurred.
Images are the way your subconscious speaks to you, so when selecting photos for your collage, set aside any preconceived ideas. Flicking through a variety of magazines, cut out the pictures that you’re drawn too -- you don’t have to understand why you like the ones you do.
Once you’ve selected your images (anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes), artfully arrange them. Lighting a candle and incense can help create a sense of ritual. Take your time and enjoy the process!
Tape or glue down your images and any extras (ribbon, glitter, etc). Once your collage is created, sit with it for a few minutes and observe the colors, people and activities it depicts. This is what you most dearly want for yourself over the year ahead, so it pays to spend time connecting with the energy of the images.
Finally, either write down or describe out loud the intention each image holds. This helps cement these intentions deep within your being. Once completed, hang your collage somewhere private where you can cast your eyes on it regularly throughout the year. This will help you stay connected to your intentions -- and make them easier to manifest!
