With a USA General sounding a note of caution over the Eurozone crisis pointing to the worldwide consequences of a collapse the focus is still firmly on Europe.
Not surprisingly the Lunar Eclipse of a few days back on December 10th with the Sun at 18 degrees Sagittarius opposition Moon at 18 degrees Gemini collided with the EU Saturn at 19 Sagittarius in the 3rd. This represents difficult neighbours so it was no surprise that one member – the UK - refused to play ball.
The November Sagittarius Solar Eclipse was also key to the EU chart, being conjunct the EU Mars and square its hidden 12th house Pluto – so hostility and power struggling were bound to follow.
Transiting Saturn is now moving to conjunct the EU Jupiter in the final days of this month into January when the Merkel/Sarkozy relationship is stretched to breaking point. Saturn on Jupiter usually represents bad news for finances; and that Jupiter already has the disappointing tr Neptune trine to it in place. So the EU Fiscal Union project looks likely to be ploughing through heavy seas.
The European Central Bank 1998 chart isn’t showing anything much exactly at the moment – though plenty of horrors by 2013. But the 1 Jan 1994 12 am chart (for the forerunner to the ECB) is indicating plenty of angst at the moment with tr Pluto conjunct Venus in the 4th – so feelings running high with the EU family members over cash. There’s major outbursts of bad temper with setbacks and nothing running smoothly just before and after Christmas with tr Saturn square Solar Arc Mars and Sun into January (and repeating on and off till after mid 2012). Then into 2012 it gets worse with tr Pluto conjunct Mercury in January and even worse conjunct Mars from late Feb till the end of May (repeating till late 2013) – so scary, trapped, acutely frustrated with no room for manoeuvre. There is admittedly a tr Pluto sextile Jupiter at the same time which slightly suggests that ECB will have to give way and pump more money into the system.

The UK/EU relationship chart has tr Pluto trine Uranus exactly now turning the connection between the two entities on their head; with an undermining tr Neptune square Pluto through 2012 loosening links still further. Then there’s the double whammy in 2013 of tr Pluto and tr Uranus both in hard aspect to the composite Sun from which no union will survive intact.
In the immediate future there will be increasing aggravation between David Cameron and Sarkozy Merkel in the week before and after this Christmas with sharp words exchanged. But what’s more intriguing is that Sarkozy and Merkel look distinctly at odds in the final days of the year until mid January, again in March and later in the summer – a real chill and separation. So the mighty pact may crack before the cement has hardened.
Everyone talks as if Germany was in supremely good shape financially yet the reality is that their major banks are in serious trouble with exposure to Greek, Italian, Spanish debt, never mind their export economy sagging with their chief market in the EU being broke and not buying.
Two of their major commercial banks – Commerzbank and Deutschebank are being forced to recapitalise after the latest bank stress tests. Neither of those charts looks healthy ahead especially into 2013. Commerzbank, 26 Feb 1970, is facing major setbacks now till mid 2012; and is then seriously stuck, short of confidence and cash and being battered by events in 2013. Deutschebank, 22 Jan 1870, is similarly grinding to a halt by 2013 having sagged its way thro’ 2012. The central German Bundesbank is massively concerned in Jan/Feb 2012, undermined financially, jolting and jangling its way through a series of panicky new strategies in 2012 and having to face a harsh reality by 2013.
Both the Euro 1 Jan 1999 and 1 Jan 2002 charts have 10 degree Capricorn Suns which are most at risk in 2013 from the tr Pluto conjunction and the tr Uranus square. Before then they are both edgy, unnerved, insecure and heavily challenged through 2012.
So best guesses of a euro implosion/ fragmentation would still be 2013 – though it won’t be an easy run through till then.
