Explore Your Dreams:  Smashed Tires


Car dreams are one of the common dream themes we find.  Many people dream about driving or about their car breaking down.

Our cars are our form of transportation, of movement through the world.  While they are a tool to get us where we need to go, they also represent how we see ourselves or want to project how others see us.

If you live in a city like Los Angeles, people judge you by what kind of car you drive, especially if you live in Hollywood and work in the movie industry.  Cars are status symbols there.  In the country, people get cars that will get them where they need to go, and so you often see trucks or jeeps that can drive on all terrains. 

Cars are associated with the Tarot card The Chariot.  This card represents self-control or successfully controlling some situation through the force of your personality.  It can also symbolize having a sense of direction or purpose. 

So you see a car represents many things: your status, your self-control, your ability to maneuver in the world and go where you need to go.

A woman dreamed:

I go over to a car whose tires are totally smashed up.  There are no tires on the car and it is the metal section that holds the tires which are smashed in.  I want to fix the care but realize that the metal is too twisted.

This woman is seeing and therefore realizing that the car she is looking at cannot be fixed. Without tires, the car cannot run.  And it’s the axles which are crushed, not the tires. 

This woman probably needs to find a new way to operate in the world.  She is at a crossroads in her life where the job or work that she does is no longer viable and she probably needs to explore new work opportunities.

Dreams like this one come to us to let us know for sure that our old way of moving through the world is no longer viable.  While we usually don’t like the message, these dreams can give added weight to something we’re already feeling about our lives. 

Dreams share with the ego the wisdom of the soul.  It behooves us to listen.
