Explore Your Dreams: Is the Relationship Over?

Explore Your Dreams: Is the Relationship Over?

Dreams are one way to get in touch with your innate wisdom.  Often when we go through hard times in our work, relationships or health, dreams can show us what’s really going on beneath all the emotional upheaval.

A young woman, whose husband is living in another state because of his job and her schooling, is trying to figure out if the relationship can last.  She’s feeling she can’t move until her school year ends, and she doesn’t know what to do.   She dreamed:

I am back home in my old bedroom.  It is raining and foggy outside and I am looking out the window.  I stretch my hand out to feel the rain.  Then I realize that there are kids up on the roof playing a game.  They are throwing watches down to the ground.  Suddenly, a little three-year old girl with blond hair falls down off the roof on her bum.  I look to see if she’s hurt and notice she’s sitting in lotus position and shaking her head as if her ears are ringing.  As I watch, she gets up and stumbles away, still a little unsteady.  She doesn’t have any diapers on.

This woman associated her bedroom window with a place where she’d sit and dream when she was younger.  She would see lots of things from that window.  So she is back in a head space where she’s dreaming of her future.  Back, perhaps, to what her expectations of being married were when she was younger.  Things are very different from what she expected.  She can’t see very far with the fog and rain.  But she wants to feel and so she puts her hand out into the rain.

The kids are dropping watches, indicating that she’s worried about timing – should we break up or stay together for a while longer?  But the kids are throwing time away, so perhaps she is still young enough to have some time to really think and feel through her decision.

The little girl symbolizes her relationship, which started three years ago.  The blond hair represents a very rational outlook on her marriage, looking at her feelings but also taking into account the situation and the times.

There’s a certain freedom to not having a diaper on.  Kids love it, and why not?  Who wants to run around in wet, smelly underpants?   She is free to either stay or go.

The girl is a bit shaken up from her fall, but isn’t hurt.  There’s a consciousness indicated by her lotus position.  Her head might be ringing, but once she gets her bearings, she can get up and leave.

There is no easy resolution to something as important as dissolving a marriage.  But in this dream, the dreamer is made aware of the fact that time is running out on her marriage if she doesn’t do something about it.  Her feelings are still intact, but they are shaken up.

Now that the dreamer has a picture of what’s going on in her psyche, she can make better decisions about what to do about her relationship.  The dream does not tell her what to do; rather, it shows her what the situation is.  With this in mind, she can make better decisions in her life and in her marriage.

Please feel free to send in dreams!

Until Next Time,

Sweet Dreams!
