Explore Your Dreams: When Your Inner Man is a Farmer

When C.G. Jung set about exploring the unconscious, he discovered certain archetypal patterns that are common to all of us.  He discovered that we all contain a contra-sexual aspect of our psyches: for men he called their feminine side the anima; for women, he called their masculine side the animus.

Throughout life, we each have many different archetypal patterns that change and grow in our personality.  The animus is one of the patterns that constantly picks out new players to represent those energies within us.  So when a woman dreams of different men, it is a reflection of different masculine energies that she engages with.   For a woman, a masculine figure in a dream often represents a form of doing that she is engaging in.

I am with a nice, dark-haired, very grounded man who seems to be a gentleman farmer.  We are lovers.  We are with his family and friends at his home.  We fill an area of land with water to form a pool.  I go up and kiss him and know that he loves me.

The woman in this dream has a very grounded, earthy animus.   The fact that he’s a farmer indicates a masculine side to herself that is definitely in touch with the seasons, with growing things, and with hard work.   He is a gentleman as well – and that can be taken as a pun to mean that he is gentle and kind.  This animus symbolizes the way this woman goes about her own life – in touch with the seasons, very grounded and yet gentle with everyone she meets.

To fill an area with water is to bring some feelings into all the hard work.  The dreamer seems to be in touch with her feelings, even gathering them into one space.  Perhaps this means that she is able to use those feelings for a specific purpose.  The farmer animus helps her gather her energies to be used this way.  This image can indicate that the dreamer is marshaling all her emotional resources to undertake or complete some task.

As for the kiss, the dreamer takes the initiative and kisses the farmer.  A kiss seals the deal.  And of course, a kiss lets you know if you want to proceed any further.   It seems the dreamer does!
