"Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love is a growing up."
-- James Arthur Baldwin
This full Moon eclipse on October 18 is not for the faint of heart. As with all eclipse patterns, this is a "course correction" time in the area of your chart where the Aries-Libra axis falls. Libra is where we seek connection and compromise, often at the expense of being true to our needs and desires. Aries is where our Mars energy kicks in to fight to preserve the autonomy and authenticity underlying the "I AM" pulse of the Self.
The constant negotiation between honoring the "self" and honoring the "other" in relationships is what's up now. It's an art that many of us struggle with in our daily encounters with others and especially in our intimate relationships. This particular eclipse is certain to do some serious damage to any partnerships that are out of balance. The spotlight is on wherever we are reckless, impulsive and uncompromising, and there will be "justice" (Libra) to pay. We're being asked to really consider the consequences of our actions during this time.
Relationships have a way of throwing up a glaring mirror in our face to reveal where we're still the most selfish, demanding and unyielding in the more unconscious side of the "me, me, me" energy of Aries. Then again, unconscious Libra can be a bit too "you, you, you" in the Venus-driven desire to compromise and couple. Co-dependency, anyone?
Aries can sometimes fall prey to the in-your-face aggression that lands them in hot water with others, whereas Libra is often guilty of passive-aggressive manipulation rather than being direct when frustrated. The bottom line question is to look at our actions and how we relate both to ourselves and to others.
It's also an opportunity to look at how polarized our inner masculine (Mars) and inner feminine (Venus) energies have become. Where do we need more integration between the two? This is an opportunity to cultivate the peaceful warrior energy within. Are you a lover or a fighter? As long as the fight is for love, the answer would ideally be both-and.
