"Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there's no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic."
-- Laini Taylor
The powerful penumbral lunar eclipse on Friday, May 24, is right on the heels of another exact square between revolutionary Uranus (in Aries) and evolutionary Pluto (in Capricorn). Our world, our hearts and our minds are getting dramatically turned upside down, and our faith, our belief systems radically shaken and stirred.
Eclipses speed up change and consciousness by first creating a bit of chaos. This lunar eclipse squares Neptune, which adds a mix of illusion, delusion or perhaps finally seeing things upside down and inside out. Despite the fact that eclipses tend to be a bit on the ominous and destructive side, there seems to be an expansive and potentially magical element to this eclipse that's worth considering. It all depends on how we use the energy of Neptune in Pisces. How conscious are we of the subtle, non-verbal exchanges that take place in our lives? How do we run our own energy?
This eclipse seems to echo the musings of a Jungian quote that says the deciding question of our lives is whether we are plugged into something infinite or not. If we’re not looking for salvation from outer sources such as relationships, money or authority figures that we’ve handed our power to, we’ll be in much better shape coming out of this mind-blowing eclipse. And yes, expect your mind to be fully blown, including all of outmoded belief systems, thought patterns, limited ideas and negative rotations of fear, doubt and insecurity.
This full Moon delivers some serious truth serum -- ready or not! Self-betrayal and delusion will be costly to our immune systems. It’s time to get real on your chosen method of escapism or addiction, since unconscious Neptune will certainly bring our compulsions to the surface.
What are the gods in our lives and where have we abandoned ourselves is another blazing question delivered by the straight-shooting energy of the full Moon in Sagittarius. It’s time to give up the ghost. If you're still fuzzy about what you believe in, look to where your energy and attention is flowing: therein lay your gods and your altars -- so says Neptune squaring the full Moon.
