Goal Setting: Using Saturn to Set Boundaries
Serious Saturn has been in analytical Virgo for two years, But last October, Saturn moved into fair-minded Libra (where it will remain until 2012), and attention turned to equitable agreements and relationships, both at work and elsewhere. Read on to discover how Saturn's shift is affecting you.

Saturn is often thought of as unlucky, a negative force bringing setbacks, delays and all manner of irksome problems. In reality -- and Saturn is intimately related to what's real -- it can be just the opposite. Saturn puts down limits, draws together, gives form and structure, consolidates. It always aims for tangible achievements that are a reward for the long, drawn-out Saturnine process of getting it together.

Everything in life needs structure and limits. After all, what would a body be without a skeletal structure and skin to hold it in place? Societies need the structure of law and government, or else chaos reigns. Houses need construction plans and schedules, for you can't put up the roof before you've built the foundation. Each of these examples follow the Saturnine approach.

Being so utterly grounded in the real world, Saturn can be a bit depressing since it takes a bite out of our dreams. It says that perfection is unattainable, and that we simply can't do everything. Saturn ruthlessly focuses on what's possible within the budget and capabilities, given the circumstances. It also recommends cutting losses and tossing certain treasured fantasies out the window, instead concentrating on what is working well. Sentiment is not allowed much say in Saturn's world.

Saturn is also about endurance, so it's no surprise that Saturn rules time. Saturn professes to not constantly rush to beat deadlines, but instead realize that everything worthwhile requires repetitive effort over time. Traits such as conscientiousness and self-discipline result not only in quality work, but also respect.

The Fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius
Saturn's move into Libra is cheering up these Fire signs. Aries is more successful at work, though more willing to place boundaries in close relationships at work. Leo is focussed on office communication in an effort to understand why they're sometimes misunderstood. Sagittarius is having to throw their weight behind forging team relationships, ensuring that everyone pulls together.

The Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn
With Saturn into Libra, Taurus is working exceptionally hard, but still with the understanding that rewards will arrive over the long term. Virgo is ditching indulgences and becoming more sensible in their spending habits. Capricorn's reputation is rising at work, but only because they've prepared well and stuck to the straight and narrow.

The Air signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius
Gemini is pushing aside partying for the more serious business of creating their lives anew. Libra is pruning out anything they no longer need, and setting foot on a new 29-year Saturn cycle. Aquarius knows they're heading up the mountain ... but that the final stretch towards the peak will take considerable effort.

The Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces
With Saturn in Libra, Cancer finally has the foundation of their lives reorganized, in order to build better structure. Scorpio is slowly pulling back from what no longer works well, instead focusing on what they want to accomplish in the long term. Finally, Pisces is being thrown back on their own resources, a development that will ultimately enhance their resilience.
