Every year, on the birthday of a person, country or event, the Sun returns to the exact position where it was when the original “birth” took place. This is a very powerful chart called the Solar Return. This chart can be used to see what will be the major issues during the upcoming year.
The cool thing about Solar Return charts is that we can change them! By travelling to a new location you can change the houses in which the planets are positioned, and thereby change their area of influence. For example, if you want to focus on love, an astrologer can help you find a city to visit on your birthday so that you have good planetary action in your love sector. Even if you are not into astrology, a birthday trip is always a nice pressie to give oneself!
So what is up for the USA in during its next solar year?
Focus on domestic affairs and the economy: With the Sun close to the mid-heaven, or point of career success, forming a disharmonious Grand Cross with Pluto in the house of home, Uranus in the house of open enemies and Saturn in the house of identity, the USA will still have to deal with a struggling economy and weakened sense of power, and a feeling of being stretched too thin on all sides. There will be an increased sense of internal struggle and differing factions could stubbornly be at loggerheads over how to fix the issues. The drain and futility of fighting several wars will continue to deplete the vital resources needed to help reinvigorate the domesticeconomy, and the breaking point will need to come to a head.

A more mature approach: With Saturn in the house of identity, these may not be the most carefree of times, but this has a positive side, as well. The USA is often described as the eternal optimistic adolescent. This positioning will give a deeper gravitas to politics and a more mature, balanced approach.
Renewed respect on world stage: While domestic affairs and attitudes may be a bit turbulent, the USA’s reputation will grow on the world stage, and we will feel a love and impart an idealism that we have not experienced in many years. Venus on the MC in the house of foreign affairs with Mars in the same house trining Saturn near the Ascendant will be granting the USA a sense of compassionate leadership beyond its borders. Unfortunately, as Venus opposes Pluto, the more we are loved abroad, the more isolationist we may become at home, especially due to involvements in wars overseas.
The economical outlook is good (in comparison to everywhere else): Even though the USA’s economy may be bad, in comparison to what is going on overseas, we are downright peachy. Expect the dollar to increase as the Eurozone undergoes its issues. Jupiter in the financial sector is sending extremely rare and harmonious vibes to Venus in the house of foreign places and Pluto in the domestic realm, so we are sure to benefit from other countries' economic austerities. Jupiter in the realm of finances will also bring an added shot of luck in this sector.
