Like Santa, most of us have a micro-planet of people to provide for, people whom we do not want to disappoint. Okay we’re not Santa, so we don’t have elves, but we do have our own Christmas magic, for which we only need to look to the stars and Moon!
Get out your PDA and star mark these dates on your cosmic calendar to help your holiday celebrations go more smoothly, decrease the number of returns on your purchases and arrive at your desired destinations in one piece. Who doesn’t need heavenly help around the holidays?
When to Shop (or Not)
Venus, the gift-giving planet is in Scorpio for the entire month of December. Venus is our personal shopper and -- when in Scorpio -- has an eagle eye. We’ll know exactly what we want, and we’ll know how to get it. We’ll also be taking the personality and preferences of who we’re buying for into account, making this a year of giving and receiving gifts that are intimately personal.
Attempt to get your Christmas shopping done before Mercury moves retrograde on December 10, to avoid return gifts or hastily-made gift decisions that you end up regretting. You may go overboard while the Moon is in Sagittarius, the weekend of December 4 and 5, not a bad thing. Hey, it’s Christmas!
When to Get Festive and Let Loose
Spread the festive good cheer while the Moon is in both Fire and Air signs. Aries, Leo, Sagittarius (Fire) Moon days can bring any party to life, even a game of pin-the-tail-on-Rudolph at your office get-together! Fire Moon dates -- December 4 and 5, December 14 and 15, December 23 and 24 -- are invigorating, celebratory and allow us to let loose.
Likewise, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius Moon (Air) Moon days are sociable and friendly, sparkling with effervescent energy. Choose Air Moon dates -- December 9 and 10 (Aquarius), December 19 and 20 (Gemini) -- for hooking up with people you’d like to get to know better.
When to Retreat, Travel, & Take Care of the Details
Holiday travel is on everyone’s mind now. As mentioned, Mercury will be retrograde (December 10 through 30) and with a full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the Mercury-ruled sign of Gemini on December 21, make flight plans in advance, have a back up plan and be flexible and understanding with last-minute delays.
Take advantage of the down days of December, to relax and recover, write your cards, make travel arrangements and plan against last-minute madness. Earth Moon days (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) are good for practical matters like writing and sending out cards, firming up travel arrangements, and planning holiday meals. Earth Moon dates: December 6 and 7 (Capricorn), 16 and 17 (Taurus).
Consider Water Moon days (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) your personal down days. Relax. Allow the restorative water signs to heal you. Water Moon dates: December 2 and 3 (Scorpio), December 11 and 12 (Pisces), December 21 and 22 (Cancer). Let the stars guide you this holiday season, and yours will be heavenly!
