On Her Terms, The Terms of Your Venus Sign

In our birth chart, the Goddess of Love describes the way we give and receive love, our seductive styles, and our aesthetic tastes and creative preferences. Venus is a personal planet, meaning not under our conscious ego’s control, so these responses arise in us unbidden. When we have peculiar tastes; if we possess or are temporarily possessed by a strong seductive magnetism; when we have a deep sensibility (and aversion) to certain types of people and experiences; when we under the rapturous spell of a piece of music, artwork, or person -we are under the spell of Venus. To identify the Venus in others we notice: their joys, popularity, signature personal style, romantic-courtship style, preferences, tastes, sensuality, turn-ons and offs, sociability, artistry and creativity, seductive magnetism.

In my last article I introduced astrological terms: The astrological terms flavors a sign expression. Related to Venus, your Venus term will modify your Venus sign. For example, let’s take Venus at 22 degrees Gemini. Attractive quick-wittedness gives her a special sparkle –Gemini qualities, but this is the term of Mars. What might Mars bring out in Gemini? Gemini loves movement, deftness and speed and so does Mars. This Venus term might enjoy verbal sparring or competitive sports. That’s the Venus term of tennis player Venus Williams. Let’s look at some Venus in Aries TERMS of other notorious people.  

Marilyn Monroe, Venus 28 45 Aries SATURN

The term always flavors the sign expression, so how might this work for Marilyn? We think of Aries Venus and we typically think: adventuresome, impulsive, confident & brazen. Marilyn was not confident. She was also lonely. But whether or not she knew it, she also possessed Saturn's enduring loyalty-- Joe DiMaggio loved her through death. Nicholson is the best at playing abrasive, grumpy, combative but charming characters, but on the upswing, randy, difficult, headstrong and childishly petulant ones. Ah, yes, a Mars ruled Venus. He’s also a creative genius, which is Aries, too. Astrologer Jonathan Pearl says, “This can be a violent term”. The first films he starred in: The Cry Baby Killer (title role) and other horror movies like, The Terror, The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Another creative Aries-Mars term pioneer, Lady Gaga’s Venus in Aries is pumped up on Mars, as Mars will bring out more boldness & bravado in this Venus. Radically independent, Gaga’s shocking aesthetic and devil may care attitude about her artistic expression is all Mars. Gaga croons, “I am Gaga, hear me roar! An attractive woman and style-maker Jen has a Venus ruled Venus term. You’d think she’d be single gal popular among her chums, a trendsetter, and she is. But she is equally unpopular, which screams: double Venus detriment. She's on everyone's style list and yet conflict (Aries) follows her. And the chronic press headlines about poor, lonely Jen? Of course we would see her this way. Her Venus conjoins whiny and wounded Chiron.

Another pioneer, rebel and freedom fighter, but one who challenged (Aries) apartheid through sweet, expansive music. Jonathan says the Jupiter term of any sign generally brings out the best in it. If it's possible to hide fighting words in a song, Marley does it with good, positive mystical Rastafari energy. Jonathan says, Rasta! Good vibes :) As an aside, my Venus is in Jupiter's term - but my Venus is in Cancer. I love learning from spiritual teachers (Jupiter), and I feel it also describes my husband to a degree, a world traveller who is ebullient, optimistic and at times overwhelmingly Jupiterian.
