Did you ever think that we could find a way to fight cancer while taking a bite out of ‘National Cheeseburger Day?’ In fact, prominent cancer researcher Dr. William Li says that his ‘secret weapon’ to preventing cancer, especially lung cancer, is cheese, specifically Gouda, Jarlsberg, Edam and other hard cheeses. Li says that eating just two slices of these cheeses a day can reduce the risk of cancer since they contain a hormone called Vitamin K2 that has been shown to inhibit cancer growth. Studies have shown that those who eat hard cheeses each day have a decreased risk of developing some of the more common cancers like lung or prostrate. So the next time you decide to have a cheeseburger, skip the burger part and melt a few slices of Jarlsberg on whole grain bread and make yourself a lot more disease resistant!
