Jeff Bridges, who finally won the Oscar for Best Actor, tries hard to give the impression that he doesn’t like working too much, is laid back and keen on a quiet life. But that is not really what his chart reflects at all.
He was born on 4 December 1949 at 11.58pm in Los Angeles, so has a Sagittarius Sun admittedly tucked down at the lowest point of his chart, so he will be private. But his Sun squares onto a highly disciplined Mars Saturn conjunction in Virgo on his Ascendant, which will push him to work and worry a good deal.
He was born at the time of the full Moon in Gemini, so he will always be split about what he really wants. Half of him aims to be ‘the dude’ who lazes around courtesy of his amiable Jupiter Venus in the entertaining Fifth House; and the other half of him feels the need to go where the fear is and plunge into difficult roles.
Certainly Uranus in his Tenth House designs him for an unusual career where he is to a large degree his own boss. His Sun is trine a Twelfth House Pluto, so behind the scenes he broods and wrestles a good deal with personal issues and the meaning of the roles he takes on. Neptune, which rules the movie business, is trine his Midheaven, which certainly fits. His strong Fifth House definitely suits him for a spotlight career, no matter how much he tries to understate his ambitions.
Jupiter was transiting exactly conjunct his Sun/Moon midpoint when he won; and about to square his Sun and then cross his Descendant so his Oscar will launch him into a more outgoing phase.
Stevie Wonder has collected one of France’s top cultural honours and a lifetime award at France’s biggest musical awards show as well. Born on 13 May 1950 at 4.15pm, Saginaw, MI, USA, he was six weeks premature and blind from birth. He’s a Sun Mercury in Taurus in the hidden, intense Eighth House trine a Twelfth House Mars conjunct Saturn in Virgo. His Sun is also square an Eleventh House Pluto. So life hasn’t been easy, with many frustrations which held him back from living the kind of life he might have wanted. But he’s also lucky with Jupiter in Pisces in the entertainment/performing Fifth House trine Uranus.
Possibly what stamps his musical talent, apart from the throat-ruled Taurus, is Neptune on the Libra Ascendant opposition Moon, Venus, North Node in Aries square the Midheaven in Cancer. Moon Venus and Neptune together are exceptionally sensitive and all of that energy has been channelled into his career.
In some ways his chart looks rather disjointed with the really rather bleak, tough going Sun Pluto Mars Saturn pulled together by aspect; then Moon Venus Neptune Asc/MC in another set of aspects; plus the Uranus Jupiter. But if you look closely at the quintile aspects (360 divided by five) then it does hang together more sensibly with Mars Pluto Jupiter and Venus in one powerfully talented and confident bunch; and Mars Neptune, Sun, Mercury putting fiery energy into his creativity and boosting his ability to communicate.
Another fair to middling difficult chart belonged to Corey Haim, the Canadian actor famous in his teens in The Lost Boys. But sadly lost for chunks thereafter with drugs and now dead at 38 with perhaps a suspected prescription drug overdose.
Born in Toronto on 23 Dec 1971, he was a Sun Capricorn square a Pluto opposition Mars -– and that is quite heavy duty. It would build up intense feelings of frustration, make him quite pushy at times though clearly also turning his anger inwards to self destruct. He also had the creative though neurotic Saturn opposition Neptune which may or may not have squared onto a Pisces Moon. So he was an odd combination of very macho and highly sensitive. He did have a good deal of talent with a half Grand sextile in his chart of Mars sextile Venus in Aquarius sextile Neptune sextile Pluto. Sextiles are easy, pulling different abilities together smoothly. But too many of them and the individual often puts too little value on what they achieve.
The major configuration out in the heavens at the moment of transiting Saturn opposition tr Uranus square tr Pluto were all wading their way round that central T square of his of Mars opposition Pluto square Sun which would have been piling on very considerable pressures over the past eighteen months. Plus his Solar Arc Neptune was conjunct his Sun in 08/09 which is undermining.
Thirty-eight is the start of what Carl Jung called "the individuation crisis", which lasts for about five years starting with transiting Pluto square the natal Pluto, followed by tr Uranus opposition Uranus and tr Neptune square Neptune. More’s the pity he couldn’t make it across.
