When I say recently, I mean a few months ago.

I’m doing something that I’ve never done before- no IT, no banking. Instead I’m doing some copywriting, some design work, and the usual amount of change, project and facilities work.

And I’m writing in my spare time- more prolifically then I did the whole time I was supposed to be away from formal work and writing. In fact, if I stay at this current word rate, I’m on target to finish the first draft of the chick lit manuscript I’m writing by Christmas.

Why? I have Sagittarius on the Midheaven, and when you have Sagittarius in that part of your chart (or a Sag Sun), don’t think about what one thing you should be doing…instead pick two. At least.

Does this mean that you should have two jobs? Absolutely not- although if you do, that could work for you too- as long as at least one satisfies your creative needs.

What it does mean is that you must always be doing something that’s creative- especially if the “real work” part of your life is not. You must always feel as though you’re pushing the boundaries with something.

You must always feel that in some way (metaphorical or otherwise) you can gallop to that fence, jump over it and head off into something new.

My Sag friend runs his own business. In it he’s practical and business like. At home he renovates 1960’s style wooden boats- turning them from wrecks into things of beauty. It satisfies his urge for creativity.

For me, I’m pushing ahead creatively at the moment simply because I have boundaries in my partition job. When those boundaries weren’t there, I had no fences that needed to be cleared.

An old, dear Sag boss would play the political game well in the office, generally stick to the rules and tow the company line. In his spare time he’d play in a band, fly planes, refurbish old Triumph motorbikes and dream of opening a pub in Queenstown. It was this creative energy and feeling of jumping fences that allowed him to stay within the partitions erected at work.

Get the idea?

It’s a sad reality that most of us don’t have the financial or personal circumstances to do what it is that we want to do with our lives. I get that. But, if you’re a Sagittarius, or your Midheaven is ruled by Sagittarius and you are feeling trapped, constrained and as if your mojo has taken flight and flown south for the winter, the answer could be as simple as stepping outside your current boundaries with something creative.

It could be a hobby, it could be a renovation project, it could be a fitness challenge- as long as it serves the purpose of broadening your horizons.
