Katy Perry and Russell Brand - another celeb split

What a surprise. Not. Katy Perry and Russell Brand are filing for divorce.

 

One of the trickier chores for a media astrologer is commenting on celebrity weddings. Raining on people’s parade by looking to problems ahead when everyone is starry eyed always feels mean-spirited. But over the years I’ve stopped being so sensitive and now just tell it the way it looks. So looking back to my post of 14 months back when the ginormous Katy Perry Russell Brand wedding took place in India I clearly decided to tell it straight.

 

" Russell Brand and Katy Perry are certainly an odd couple. She’s a fearsomely determined Sun Pluto in Scorpio with Mercury, Saturn, Moon also in Scorpio sextile an aggressively confident Mars Jupiter in Capricorn; with an erratic Venus Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius.

 

He on the other hand is a Gemini Sun in a vague opposition to Neptune; with an impulsive, impatient and rather heavy duty Mars Jupiter (Moon) in Aries opposition Pluto square Saturn; and Venus square Uranus. They are relatively similar in having quite challenging, dark energy chart and both being quite contrary emotionally. But it hardly seems an ideal match to last a lifetime.

 

Her upbeat Mars Jupiter in Capricorn sits across from his Saturn and square his Mars Jupiter Moon and Pluto – which sounds like a recipe for awesome push n’ pull arguments. And his Uranus is close to her Pluto so it won’t ever feel that settled.

 

They were married near Jaipur in India in a tiger reserve. ‘The groom arrived on horseback - while the elephants, camels and more horses formed part of the wedding procession. There were fire jugglers and fire eaters, snake charmers and dance troupes, folk singers and drummers and several 'costume' changes for the henna-adorned bride and, less traditionally, similarly painted groom.’

 

The spectacle certainly matches their relationship chart which has an adventurous way-over-the-top Mars Jupiter conjunction opposition Sun square Uranus. I wasn’t over hopeful when their engagement was announced and remain sceptical. On the composite there’s an almost unaspected Venus – did romance ever figure anywhere in this jamboree of excess? And the strongly aspected Jupiter perhaps obscures what are truly difficult aspects – a Sun opposition Mars square Uranus and Mars trine Pluto is going to lead to horrendous arguments and power struggles once the shine wears off.

 

Tr Neptune has already been wandering across that Jupiter Mars and returns early next year; plus a separating tr Uranus opposition Venus. Those are unlikely to cause an instant split but trouble certainly looms from late 2011 into 2012 as Saturn gets to work on Pluto, Neptune, Mars Jupiter and the Wedding chart Libra Sun.

 

The wedding chart has – as per usual – similar resonances to their composite relationship chart. There is a Uranus Jupiter trine Mars so high excitement and adventure; plus a ‘spiritual’ though vague Sun trine Neptune; and a hugely heavily aspected Pluto – square Saturn, square Uranus, trine Moon, sextile Sun, Mercury, Venus. Pluto probably gives it a hang-on-in-there quality – but it surely won’t be easy.
 

 

Her career looks to be leaping ahead with tr Pluto conjunct her Jupiter in 2011/12 while he has more problems from heavy pressures on his Cardinal T Square of Pluto opposition Mars Jupiter in Aries square Saturn in Cancer. It’s those career disparities which usually causes the aggro in these celeb get-togethers."

 

Just a small add-on. Tr Saturn is now in late December 2011 within a degree of being conjunct their Wedding chart Sun in Libra, when the announcement of the split came. Which seems fitting.
