Larry Hagman - larger than life

American actor Larry Hagman, star of Dallas, has died. Born on 21 Sept 1931 4.20pm Fort Worth, Texas, the son of a Broadway actress and a district attorney, he was largely brought up by his grandparents after his parents’ divorce. He performed on Broadway and in TV series before making it to the stratospheric big time in 1977 as JR in Dallas which ran for 12 years. He had a liver transplant due to cirrhosis from excessively heavy drinking but continued to drink thereafter until stopped by cancer. He was married for nearly 60 years.

He had an 8^{th house Sun Virgo conjunct Venus in Libra sextile his Scorpio Midheaven. Many top film stars have planets in the 8th which appears to give them the ability to project a powerful aura. It also points to a grandparental upbringing, an especially strong connection to the generation before the parents.}

He also had Pluto in Cancer in the 6th opposition Saturn in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries so he came out of the tough depression era which had grit, initiative and a reforming zeal. He had Jupiter in Leo in his 7th testament to a very long marriage. His Aquarius Moon was in the 12th square Mars in Scorpio – so the lack of a mother would cause deep seated anger issues.

Moon Mars especially involving the never-forgive Scorpio is always highlighted as a drink risk. Plus his emphasised Pluto in the Moon ruled 6th house would suggest health issues.

When he took on the career-changing Dallas role in 1977 his Solar Arc Jupiter was just over the conjunction to his Sun and moving to conjunct his Venus. His Solar Arc Midheaven was starting to impact on his Cardinal Saturn Pluto Uranus T Square. Transiting Pluto was sextile his Jupiter and tr Saturn just rising above his Descendant.

When he had his life-saving liver transplant in 1995 there was a transiting Saturn trine Pluto sextile Uranus Neptune – which were impacting on his Pluto and his Midheaven; with Solar Arc Pluto moving to conjunct his Sun.
