Libra Full Moon: Dynamic Balance

Full Moons are the powerful opposition of the Sun and Moon, indicating a time to pause and reflect on the beauty of fullness. Today feels like a time of fruition, a soft completion to the current puzzle.

The Sun tells us what kind of energy is charged with light in the current moment. This light is strong and powerful and we see its reflection in the Moon's glowing face. The Moon suggests we look at emotional habit patterns we are releasing, yet also shows us where our connection to deep emotional needs can bring us into harmony.

This current full Moon in Libra occurs today, Sunday, April 17th at 7:44 pm Pacific time. The Sun's light is in the sign of Aries and the Moon is in Libra at 28 degrees; therefore this full moon will affect you most strongly if you have planets or angles in the late degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn).

Aries represents life force, a sense of true beingness and initiating energy. Often considered combative, impulsive or self-centered, these are not the highest expressions of this bold force. The Sun in Aries lights us up to be ourselves fully. We need to consider everything through the lens of our own highest needs, seasoned with integrity, and leading to courageous self-expression.

Libran energy ultimately seeks soul-centered calmness, and will find this peace through balance, mediation, compromise and fairness. Libra needs equality with partners of all kinds, and sometimes becomes compliant or ingratiating in an effort to please, but this too is not the high expression of the vibe. True Libra is beautiful, artful and flowing in both giving and receiving in relationship. The Moon in Libra signals a few days when we are likely to feel happier if we find this balance, although it could be argued that this kind of balance fuels happiness all of the time, and that all energies seek balance even if it is through the path of extremes.

Overall this month, more than most, indicates a time of polarized or extreme balancing. This is because we have a lot of extra planets in Aries and Libra adding to the intensity of this particular full Moon. We have a grouping of planets called a 'stellium' in Aries (Uranus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and the Sun), and powerful Saturn is in Libra at this time as well.

The ideal use of this energy is to explore relationship harmony and balance, in our personal relationships as well as in our planetary or global connections. Exploration can well include a meditation or intuitive process to feel and get to know the parts of you that seek self-oriented action and adventure and the parts that wish harmony and balance with others and the world. It is a time of conscious assessment.

We have been using this active, intense Aries energy to start projects and initiate actions that may have brought some projects to fruition on this Moon; with other more long term projects we can still harness all of this Aries firepower to ultimately achieve our goals.
