MacDonalds has seen its highest profits for a while indicating that cheap food outlets and their flexible marketing policy are exactly what is needed to ride out a recession.
Started on 15 May 1940 in San Bernadino, California, MacDonalds now serves 47 million customers daily in 119 countries. It has not surprisingly a very robust chart with an indulgent, persevering Taurus Sun in a conjunction to innovative Uranus and Mercury with Saturn also in Taurus. Saturn is conjunct Jupiter in late fiery Aries both in a gritty, confident, pushy square to Pluto.
Given that MacDonalds is the face of America for the rest of the world it is hardly surprising that there are chart similarities. MacDonald has Mars in Gemini square Neptune in Virgo as the US 1776 chart with Neptune at exactly the same degree. And MacDonald’s Mars is exactly conjunct the US 11 am Midheaven. The MacDonald’s Mars is also conjunct its Venus in Cancer which in turn is closely conjunct the USA Jupiter in Cancer – so an ambitious and indulgent combination.
It’s not all plain sailing ahead for MacDonalds with an insecure tr Uranus square Mars this September and early next year; and a dreary tr Pluto trine Saturn in 11/12. But with Saturn square Pluto in their chart they are custom built to withstand tough times.
The USA is grumbling hard about the Chinese yuan being even more under-valued than usual giving their exports an unfair advantage. And China has overtaken Japan to become the world’s second largest economy though still less than a third the size of the US economy.
is a Sun Mars Neptune in Virgo so hard working, idealistic, go ahead, likes publicity. His Sun is sextile Jupiter in Cancer and possibly sextile a Scorpio Moon. His Venus in Virgo squares Saturn Uranus in Gemini. There’s no birth time but he doesn’t look exactly ferocious.
is a Sun Sagittarius with a rather more fearsome Mars trine Pluto and Mars opposition Uranus Saturn so a harder type. There are distinct signs of strain on the China/USA relationship chart with a confused, disappointing tr Pluto square tr Saturn now in August and early September; and then tr Uranus in a jolting opposition to the composite Saturn in Sept/Oct.
What is also interesting looking at the charts of China Premier Wen Jiabo (15 Sep 1942) and Chairman Hu Jintao (21 Dec 1942) is that there is a distinct jangle coming up when tr Uranus hits 29 and 28 Virgo which is does from now (mid August) through till early October. On Wen Jiabao’s natal chart that hits his Mars Neptune so he’ll be insecure and highly strung. On his Premier chart the intractable Saturn opposition Pluto has moved by Solar Arc to catch the tr Uranus squares until early November this year and then again early next year. Hu Jintao’s Sun is at 28 Sagittarius so gets a sideways hit from tr Uranus in Sept/Oct. And that also appears in his Chairmanship chart in September/Oct.
So there’s clearly something in the offing.
There’s nothing of that sort showing up on the China chart. What is there is tr Saturn conjunct the 8th house Libra Sun, Mercury, Neptune from late September this year (returning next) which looks like financial cutbacks, especially as it is a forerunner to the much more difficult total-reconstruction of tr Pluto square the China Sun through 2011/12. And of course there is the tr Saturn square tr Pluto opp/square to the China Uranus – so there are in the midst of a period of huge upheaval, attempting to damp down an over heating economy and forge ahead at the same time. Tr Neptune is also square the China Midheaven in 2010/11 which suggests a degree of indecision and dithering.
Their reconstruction may of course work better than in most countries since the Bank of China chart is buoyed up to some degree by Jupiter until after 2012. Their really austere times look to be 2012/2015.
