I’ve just started a new job.

Take a year off and finish painting the house…and the back fence

  • Take a year off and get the garden right
  • Take a year off and get super fit
  • Take a year off and recover from the stress of the last job
  • Take a year off and learn how to sleep again

So I lasted nearly a year. I still haven't finished painting the house (or the beack fence), my garden still needs work (as does my fitness), but the old corporate stresses have disappeared.

And I learned that it is astrologically impossible for me to concentrate on one single thing, so when this job came up, I couldn’t say no.

It’s a role that’s perfect for me. It suits my chart down to the ground:

  • With Sagittarius on the Midheaven, I’m best with a few things on the go, so working 2-3 days a week, I can balance both paid work and writing. This keeps my career ruler (Jupiter) in the 5th house very happy indeed.
  • The role is super flexible and has no defined job description, again my Midheaven is happy.
  • I’m talking to cool people and writing great copy and learning heaps of stuff. My Pisces Sun, Moon and Ascendant are ecstatic.
  • All of this creativity is great for my grand water trine.
  • What I’m doing is meaningful- my 1st house Sun is feeling recognised.
  • A week before I accepted the role, my Progressed Midheaven moved into Aquarius. My new boss is an Aquarian and the way things are working out is definitely unexpected and completely different to my previous corporate experience. This is a new way of working and a new field we're working in.

This is definitely not the way I would have assumed things would be working out, but for now the structure of outside employment is helping me with the chaos of my writing. It also helps me deal with the constant struggle and second guessing that goes with the territory when it comes to being a Writer.

Strangely, everything that I’m currently doing actually suits my chart and suits the transits and progressions that are hanging around.

I still want a publishing contract and to do so much more, but all of this somehow seems to be helping me get there.

So, for now, at least, it seems to be working.

That’s the thing about astrology- and career astrology in particular. Your chart gives you guidelines as to what would suit you, where your talents lie, how you like to work. The rest, is up to you.
