With a Pisces Ascendant, I always blended into whatever I needed to. At work for years I did the Corporate Uniform- you know, the navy/black/charcoal suit with the court shoes, neat earrings and sensible blouse. Every so often my Venus in Aries would come out in the form of a red shirt under the jacket, or a red leather handbag.

The year Saturn went across my Ascendant I was promoted into a Bank Manager position at the age of just 27- I was at least 10 years younger than the youngest of my all male counterparts and the only female that had been promoted into such a job. I tried to look older, more professional and more respectable. I started to wear glasses and got my hair cut razor short from its previously short bob length. Saturn definitely changed my mask.

Three years ago Uranus crossed my Ascendant. Natally in the 7^th house and in opposition to my Pisces Sun and Pisces Moon, Uranus and I are combatants from way back. About 6 months before he ventured into my 1^st house I started to grow my hair properly long without any attempt to control the resultant curls. By the time Uranus crossed my Ascendant I had gone blonde, changed my work wardrobe, swapped the court shoesfor heals, the studs for gold hoops, started to study astrology and acquired a tattoo.

It didn’t occur to me how much I had changed until the other week a colleague commented on the 5 years old ID photo and said “you look younger and more like you.” She was right. I was more like me...but I certainly no longer feel as though I conform. In fact after a meeting with a perfect straight haired, properly attired counterpart the other day I declared my hair was too frizzy and I wore too many bracelets to be taken seriously. For the 1^st time in years I felt as though I had lost my edge.

So, on Saturday I had my hair cut off, well to my shoulders anyway... Saturn is opposing natal Saturn again. I don’t feel any more respectable or any more professional. I feel older (well, I did have a birthday last week and technically am older), but more importantly, I feel that the part of me that was trying to be me had got scared and was running for cover and conformity.
