Mercury Enters Pisces: Silent Communication

When the messenger planet moves into the subtle and sublime realm of Pisces on February 5, communication tends to get foggy or dreamy -- or a combination of the two, the doubles representing the duality of Pisces and the two fish. Our minds may be filled with inspiration at one moment, and merged in our deepest fears the next.

This is the nature of Pisces; there is nothing logical or linear. Our minds will work in a mysterious fashion, often depending on whomever or whatever is making the greatest impression on us at any one moment. Pisces prefers illusion instead of reality.

Words may actually hinder rather than help under this watery Mercury transit. In fact, the more non-verbal the communication is during this time, the better. There is something nearly telepathic and insidious about the energy of Pisces. Feelings and messages just seep right through our pores. You’ll be surprised how few words are needed. People are more apt to speak in symbols, metaphors or quote poetry or song lyrics now.

On a more practical note, details may slip through the cracks. Pisces is more about the vague and intangible realms than the specific. Pisces rules the imagination, our dreams and all-things cinematic. Watching films or listening to music is especially satisfying and stimulating during this Mercury transit. It’s also an excellent time to track the symbolism in your dreams and pay attention to all messages, signs and omens in general.

Photography is another Piscean domain that serves as a wonderful medium of communication during this phase. It must have been someone with Mercury in Pisces who once said, “a picture speaks a thousand words."
