Mom: Nurture Your Independence!

Do you sometimes get frustrated with being seen as just a mom? You want to be yourself for once -- is your Sun sign capable of carving out some freedom and independence time?

Aries mamas will have no problem making time for themselves since domesticity is not their natural condition. Free spirits by nature, they prefer to assert their individuality than be tied down. Because of this, the Ram is often a role model for other signs.

Taurus enjoys the security of home and family -- especially because they then have more control of how everything runs. The Bull doesn’t have the urge for freedom as much as other signs do. Their identity comes from nurturing what makes them feel safe.

Gemini is a wanderer at heart. Their independence comes from having a wide circle of friends. When they’re not out and about, they have a voracious appetite for reading. When stepping out of the mom role, they’ll have no problem joining groups where they’re welcomed for simply who they are as a person.

Cancer is a family freak, never happier than when cuddling close with their nearest and dearest. That said, the Crab can also be restless and ambitious, so they need to own their individuality and push themselves to step out once in awhile.

Leo loves to be loved and admired just for who they are, so they’ll be happy as the center of attention both at home and out in the world. They would never dream of identifying themselves just as a wife or mother, and will stamp their foot hard if anyone dares to try.

Virgo can be overly adaptable, so they can all too easily become typecast in the wife/mom role. They often escape into reading when hankering for alone time, but need to force themselves to take up a social life away from home.

Libra needs another half in life, so can easily slip into the wife/mom role. But they are ambitious and they do push for time away from home – with husband in tow. Sure, this isn’t fully independent, but certainly they are their own person.

Sure, Scorpio is sentimental about their family and passionate about their spouse, but they’re certainly not wimpy when it comes to exerting their individuality. They’ll bask in their role as mom -- and do exactly what they please on their own as well.

Sagittarius isn’t happy when cornered into domestic typecasting. They are independent-minded and adventurous, but they are also great friends with their kids and husband, and will take them along wherever the excitement is. Flying solo is a breeze for the Archer.

Capricorn enjoys the status of being a parent and being married, but they don’t appreciate being thought of only in those terms. They are self sufficient and dedicated to their friends, and will go their own way when it suits them – whistling all the way home!

Aquarius regards everyone as a friend -- whether it’s their toddler, their husband or their BFF. But they refuse to be put in a box and will get rebellious if tied down to a role, insisting on keeping their own interests alive and well.

Pisces settles all too easily into being at the beck and call of the family. They need to find the willpower and courage to create boundaries and follow their own wishes once in a while -- which will take lots of practice!
