In the Moment or in the Cycle?

 As we enter 2012, we begin a year of hope, fear and hype that is likely to be more amazing, shocking, transformational and unpredictable than most years. But try to predict it we will, because we like to have a sense of the cycles of life, to be prepared somehow within.

Astrologers look to previous times when the transformative energies of Pluto were engaged intensely with the liberating revolutionary energy of Uranus. On a personal level, we look to the past through the Moon, the holder of memories. Perhaps our memories are buried more deeply in past lives, through which Neptune and Pluto guide us into the unconscious and the buried. We mentally assess our present moment and predict our future probabilities through intuition, astrology or any number of divinatory techniques.

Holding ourselves in this spiritual, intuitive and astrological container of life's meaning helps us make sense of the world. The predictive lens helps us slow down, be patient and surrender when a peaceful sense of 'Being' is our ally. Other times we need to know when to stand up for our truth or move our beliefs and agenda forward more courageously.

There is a fine dance between our understanding of the cycles of time, and our spiritual need to be present in each moment: clear, conscious and open to truth. In this open state we are able to experience each moment deeply through all of our senses, releasing the fear that often comes up in times of uncertainty or change. It helps if we breathe slowly and more consciously. This is our intuitive way of being and must nest within the cyclical awareness.

When we understand the balance of being in the moment while having awareness of our time cycles, we are able to dance more easily through life and its underlying unpredictable nature.
