“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.”
-- Paulo Coelho
The planet of action (Mars) continues to work his mellow in the earthy terrain of Taurus. However, on April 30 Mars faces off with the cosmic taskmaster (Saturn) to test boundaries, limits, values and patience -- especially at home and with family.
Think about the difference between decimating and disseminating. Scorpio energy destroys in order to recreate, versus the Taurus propensity to spread loveliness like a seed with those near and dear to you. How can these opposite but complimentary energies of Earth and Water work together rather than at crossed purposes within our lives?
Taurus reminds us to ground and be patient before taking any extreme action (Scorpio). Often our actions are driven by emotional fuel, i.e. reactions to perceived fear. When we lose patience our destructive instincts often kick in. It’s like ripping off a piece of clothing when the zipper gets stuck and ruining the entire garment instead of cultivating the patience to get the snag fixed in a gentle manner.
We can apply this metaphor to our lives now -- don’t rip anything to shreds just because it needs a little adjustment to run smoothly again. If we’re willing to slow down and resist an immediate reaction to any of the challenges confronting our emotional security, we could learn valuable lessons. If we simply go for the kill-or-be-killed sting of Scorpio, we destroy all the beauty in the process.
This is a powerful opportunity to work one of the most difficult but potentially rewarding spiritual tests on the path: patience, simplicity and timing. Slow it all down and resist the urge to lash out. If you can sit still with your fears without letting them consume your mind obsessively and let life unfold, you’re creating more space and opportunity for beauty to unfold in its own time -- at home and in all areas of your life.
