Disclaimer: My chart has a first house packed with Pisces planets, so I need to declare a potential conflict of interest. Also, if my boss is reading this- none of what I have written in here applies to me... truly... I wouldn’t want to give away all of my secrets- a girl, particularly a Pisces girl, needs to preserve some of her mystery…
And that is one thing that Pisces is extremely good at- preserving her inner-most self from all but those she is closely and emotionally involved with. Intuitive and sensitive, Pisces can be whoever and whatever you need her to be- even in the workplace. The mask, the act, is the only way she knows how to keep others from seeing what she is really feeling- to see inside is to leave her exposed... even in the workplace.
Pisces is the most unworldly of all the signs and also the most emotionally vulnerable. She doesn’t have the inbuilt protection and mistrust of her fellow Water signs- Cancer & Scorpio. Nor does she have the practicality of Earth or the detachment of Air. Although imaginative and extremely creative, she can lack the spark of Fire. She does, however, have exceptional intuition and can feel and influence the mood of a meeting within seconds of entering the room. She also has an uncanny ability to “spin” or manipulate an outcome as she adjusts her mask and her method of communication to fit the message and the audience.
Without the hard shell of Cancer or Scorpio to protect her, Pisces has difficulty in separating herself from the emotional environment around her. This extends to a blurring of boundaries between work/life- everything is felt equally as intensely and detachment is difficult.
Often the Agony Aunt in the office, she will readily listen to the problems of her colleagues, often absorbing that energy as her own. This tendency to sacrifice her self is usually single directional and she often feels exploited, taken for granted and overlooked. Largely this is her own fault as Pisces has difficulty saying “no” and rarely states her own needs- being as emotionally attuned as she is, she assumes (incorrectly) that when her own needs are not magically understood and met it is because she is undeserving. Chances are that if she could manage to verbalise how she felt, such inner turmoil could be avoided. In this regard Pisces can be surprisingly high maintenance- she needs positive feedback more often than you might think.
Material success and titles will rarely motivate her- money is a vehicle through which her dreams can be realised. Pisces employee needs to be emotionally connected to whatever she is doing and will rebel if trapped- this employee does not like to be kept in a tank or micro-managed. Variety, flexibility and autonomy will keep Pisces inspired to do her absolute best. In this environment, nobody will be more loyal or work harder for you while expecting so little in return. Deadlines will be met and rabbits pulled out of hats. If she feels appreciated or “connected”, she will work for you, not the corporation- often hanging on long after the use-by date of the job, longer than what is good for her or the health of her resume.
On the flipside, a sterile and bureaucratic workplace restricts creativity. If that fishy imagination can’t be put to use in practical ways, Pisces can drop out of reality and daydream the day away. Rather than inspiring loyalty this Pisces employee will be lazy, depressive and negative, locked in her own fantasy world- rather like I can be when it comes to monthly reporting and analysing statistics!
Supremely flexible, Pisces will go with the flow and has the ability to easily change direction midstream. Whilst this allows her to adapt quickly to strategy changes, it can be incredibly frustrating to her superiors as her personal goals are often also fluid and non directional. Pisces often is happy to just go with the flow and see where it takes her.
In a positive environment, Pisces lack of boundaries will bring an unquestioning faith that everything will be OK- and often it is. But in a more restrictive scenario, a lack of direction has a default position of failure and stagnation causing the fish to look for escape.
With a Pisces employee, what you see is rarely what you get- what you see is usually whatever she feels that she wants you to see at that point in time. If she lets you in further, don’t abuse that trust- whilst she will no doubt forgive you again (and again) for hurting her, do you really want that on your conscience? Good fish/bad fish... pick one or the other or both... either way you won’t be bored.
Note- I use "she" when referring to feminine signs and "he" when writing about masculine signs- but the info is pertinent to both...
