Pope Francis is a first in many ways: the first Pope from Latin America, the first Jesuit and the first to take the name Francis. While it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll also herald in other major changes in the church, what kind of Pope will he be? What do the stars reveal about Jorge Mario Bergoglio?

Born under a Sagittarius Sun and an Aquarius Moon, Pope Francis may seem shy and serious to the world now, but it won’t take long for him to grow into his new role and show off his ability to lead. As a Sagittarius, he has a natural inclination towards academia, spiritualty, adventure and public speaking. This will make him want to reach out, speak openly and travel to foreign lands. Chances are he will bring that personal touch back to the church too, as his Moon and Venus are in Aquarius, and gives him a charisma that will endear his public, as he thrives with humanity. However, Aquarius is a fixed sign, and despite the fact he does come from a different country, he will remain steadfast in the traditions of what it means to be Catholic.
