The Indian-born American financier and businessman Rajat Gupta has been found guilty on insider trading charges and could face 20 years in prison. He rose from being an orphan to be a mover and shaker on some of the most notable companies including Goldman Sachs, Proctor and Gamble, McKinsey’s etc. His trial with evidence mainly based on controversial wiretaps followed on from Galleon hedge fund owner Raj Rajaratnam’s prosecution three years ago on insider trading charges which landed him with 11 years inside. Gupta, 2 Dec 1948, has a fairly together chart. His Sagittarius Sun is trine Pluto, sextile Neptune as a focal point – so enthusiastic, determined, intuitive, idealistic. He also has a pro-active Mars Jupiter in Capricorn trine Saturn, sextile Venus in Scorpio as a focal point. So he’s bubbling with initiative, is a hard worker, charming, keen on making lots of money. What destabilises all that tied-together energy is Uranus in opposition to Mars Jupiter which would make him prone to act erratically. Raj Rajaratnam, 15 June 1957, is a different kettle of fish altogether with a Gemini Sun in a laid-back square to Jupiter and in a vague/elusive square to Neptune, and sextile Pluto; with an adrenalin-junkie Mars Uranus conjunction. One juror described Rajaratnam as the snake in the grass who led Gupta, a friend, astray. The jurors seemed very sad to have to find Gupta guilty. What is interesting is that Gupta’s Sagittarius Sun is exactly conjunct Rajaratnam’s Saturn. This combination is often where you meet your shadow. It certainly led to Gupta’s downfall. Their relationship chart did have a friendly composite Sun Venus conjunction but that apart was pretty chaotic, doubt-ridden and not mutually supportive – with a composite Mars Neptune Saturn conjunction, sextile Pluto and square Uranus. A bad judgement call on Rajat Gupta’s side.
