I had an amazing idea the other day.
Seriously, this is nothing like the idea I had for putting electronic drum kits into steering wheels, or singstar through Bluetooth so that I could belt Sydney peak hour traffic frustration out of the system. No, this is a much better idea than that one.
It started from a throw away comment I overheard around the pool. I’ve been in Bali for the last week or so, so I have heard a lot of throw away comments by the pool. Anyways, this comment generated scrap of a thought.
Then, at breakfast the next morning I heard another comment along the same lines, but different. Same same but different. The idea was gaining a little traction.
At drinks that night one of my travelling companions voiced it. Same idea, but a different delivery mechanism. Completely different, but so much better. Same same but different.
Over the next couple of days more overheard comments, more discussion, more chats, more data. So many seemingly unrelated and tiny pieces of information, yet each in its own way helped form the bigger picture. Connecting the dots.
And that’s exactly how Mercury in Gemini works- by connecting individual and unrelated snippets together to form a bigger picture. Same same but different.
We listen, we talk, we think, we chat some more…and then slowly, inch by inch, dot by dot, the picture emerges. But now it isn’t just a rough sketch, now it has colour, and detail, texture and depth. Now it is form and colour. It may be the same as the original idea, but somehow now it is different. Same same but different.
