“Life now insists that we encounter groundlessness. Systems and ideas that seemed reliable and solid dissolve at an increasing rate. People who asked for our trust betray or abandon us. Strategies that worked suddenly don’t. Groundlessness is a frightening place, at least at first, but as the old culture turns to mush, we would feel stronger if we stopped searching for ground, if we sought only to locate ourselves in the present and do our work from here.”

Nothing can top the intensity level of November -- but the power-packed Scorpio themes continue now into December. Mercury, Venus, Saturn and the North Node are all convening in the deeply transformative constellation of Scorpio. Many of us are finding ourselves in a state of utter groundlessness. We are being forced to live in the present so that the anxiety of the future cannot throw us into a panic, and so that the depression of the past can no longer lock us into a state of hopeless despair.
Change is the only constant, and we have to summon our emotional courage to face our deepest fears now. Often we will find that most of these fears are exaggerated and exist only in our mind. This is why the key to balancing Scorpio is the energy of Taurus, reminding us to slow down and come back into the body and ground in the present moment.
Depending on which part of your birth chart is getting activated by the Scorpio transits, expect to undergo tremendous metamorphosis in that life arena. Expect the kind of one-way, you’re-never-going-back change. Scorpio represents the destructive energy needed to tear it all down in order to create. This is why the image of the phoenix rising from the ashes is often associated with the sign of Scorpio. Loss can come at any time and turn our world to ash.
How we deal with loss shows our capacity for inner strength. It shows where we have the potential for the deepest growth and change. Rebirth is one of the beautiful results of all the letting go of what no longer serves us. Use this Scorpio infusion to shed all the old and outworn layers of the self. Let go, let go, let go.
