A reader recently asked 'what does a baby black kitten mean'? My first question back would be: 'what does a black kitten mean to you'? Your own intuition and feelings about what something means to you is always the first answer. But if you don't know at all, or want more information to deepen your insight of a symbolic meaning, we can ask more pointed questions. What does the color black remind you of? How do you feel about kittens? Would you feel a difference between a black cat and a black kitten? Maybe I'd also ask how were you feeling when you first saw the kitten? How did you respond to the kitten? Did the kitten notice you and if so, how did the kitten respond to you. These simple questions elicit answers that allow the psyche to tell us what symbols mean to us personally.
Now I don't know from the question if the person is asking about seeing a real baby kitten. If you see a real kitten or other vulnerable animal or insect, perhaps you are being asked to be loving and compassionate and provide service. More than once I've found cats in my neighborhood and taken the in, posting signs until the owner is found. I love to rescue insects in pools or gently move snails from a busy sidewalk after a gentle rain. Sometimes people ask me about this. They have been made to feel foolish by less sensitive friends for these little acts of kindness. Helping all others, including animals, insects, plants and of course humans, is good karma and feels good in the heart. Kindness to all living beings is the antidote to our current economic stress and fears about our own well-being.
Now back to the kitten and the possibility one is seeing a black kitten in a dream or psychic vision. You can always look up symbols in a dream or symbol book. There will be various possibilities given in each book and the books will vary somewhat from each other. Read the descriptions and allow whatever resonates with you to give you more information about the possibilities for your personal interpretation. Cats are often thought of as relating to women and especially female sexuality -- sometimes connoting jealousy. A kitten might represent budding sexuality or a new direction. There is a gentleness and playfulness in kittens. The color black is often linked to transformation. I would wonder about the possibility of a budding, new sexual relationship that might bring about transformation even while feeling playful. But that's just what it might mean to me. If you don't like cats or are afraid of them, a black kitten might indicate a small problem that could grow into something much bigger and scarier. If neither of these meanings applies, perhaps a baby black kitten is a symbol of playful possibilities that could grow into something more meaningful.
You see where I'm going with this? Signs and symbols are deeply personal and you must use your own intuition to fully understand your dreams and visions as well as your day to day experience, even while calling on the information and wisdom from experts and books.
