Something About Cancer on the 10th

 When we talk about the career houses in the birth chart, we are mostly referring to the 10^th house, or the Midheaven. The planet ruling this house is the one that is your personal career planet.

The sign on the cusp of the 10^th tells us a lot about your career, the type of boss you respond well to, the types of conditions you like in the workplace and, to a certain extend, what you like to do from a career viewpoint.

Naturally, it isn’t as simple as that, but as a starting point it’s a good one.

The sign that is on the cusp of the 6^th house tells us a little more- how you are as an employee, your attitude to business as usual and your attitude to those who work for you- the 6^th house is traditionally the place of servants (amongst other things).

Also important to work is the 2^nd house. The sign on the cusp of the 2^nd is descriptive of (again, amongst other things) your attitude to money and how you go about earning it.

Naturally for the full story we would look at planets in these houses as well as the aspects they make to other planets, but for now, let’s just look at the cusps of these three houses.

Cancer on the cusp of the 10^th house (Libra Rising)

The 10^th is about career, public life, reputation and status in the world

You have strong emotional attachment to your career, your reputation and the status you hold in the world.

You do well in teaching others to help themselves- like that saying about buy a man some fish and he’ll have dinner versus buy him a fishing rod and he’ll never be hungry…or something like that.

Anyways, regardless of whether you have the fish or the fishing rod, with Cancer on the cusp of the 10^th you worry more about your reputation and supposed slights to your status or respect than may be warranted.

You take a conservative approach to your career and like your office to be comfortable, warm and welcoming

 

The 6^th is associated with service (or outsourcing services J), duties, tasks, health related issues (Aquarius Rising)

You are self sufficient, so tend to outsource less than other placements on the 6^th. But whatever you do, you become attached to it. If you do have staff, they become like your own children and you may find yourself baking for them or giving them the “this is for your own good” spiel.. While looking after the appetites and needs of others, remember your own.

 

The 2^nd is associated with your attitude to possessions, values, ideals- and how you earn your money (Gemini Rising)

You are protective of what you have and what you value. This isn’t to say that you aren’t generous, just that your emotional security depends on ensuring that there is a roof over your head and food on the table. You may choose to go without in order to be extravagant with your family or your home. You don’t like to owe money, take risks with money and you don’t like to be beholden to anyone else- your financial security is your business…and you are prepared to work as hard as you need to in order to make ends meet.
