Distance yourself from complicated people filled with traumas. Surrounding yourself with persons like these, perhaps frustrated with their personal lives, will infuse their pessimism into you and will cause serious problems in all aspects of your life. Negativity is contagious and there is no need to be carrying that kind of energy as the end of the year approaches, or ever. Sometimes it is best to distance ourselves a little in order to gain perspective on how to best help someone who is pessimistic all the time.

In preparation for Thanksgiving Day and as we focus on surrounding ourselves with good vibes and positive, powerful attitudes, I thought I would share one of my favorite recipes that serves either as a glaze for a turkey or as a dressing to pour over it after it is roasted. If you are someone's guest this Thursday, prepare and bring this recipe, in addition to bringing a dessert or a bottle of wine, and get ready to put smiles and "yums" on people's faces. Food is powerful, use it to unite.

Spiced Glazed

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Ponzu sauce
  • 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon of a chili pepper, your choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon five spice powder
  • salt

Using a whisk and a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients (except for cilantro) until sugar is completely dissolved. Add the cilantro and combine.
