While Aries represents the beginning of the zodiac and the energy of brand new starts, like the first shoots of a plant bursting through the earth, Taurus is like the earth herself. Slow, fertile, rich and steady, Taurus leads us to tend in a methodical, calm way that which we've just started.
As the new Moon in Taurus (May 2nd, 11:51 pm PDT, 13 degrees Taurus) is about to blossom, now is a good time to reflect on the inspirations of the past month. We've had such a super-charged month of Aries fire, grounded or stressed by the continued journey of Saturn in opposition in the sign of Libra. We have new ideas born of so many planets playing together in Aries, like horses ready to charge, held in harness by the practicalities and elder wisdom of Saturn asking us if our ideas will lead to balance and right relationship, or just rebellion, wasted energy and individual anarchy. Meanwhile Pluto sits in the middle, the focal point of a T-square, demanding transformation of deeply held structures. For us individually, this has meant karmic patterns brought to the surface for examination, transformation, and transmutation into an inner power that will help us get through these turbulent times.
Many people have reported to me that they've been feeling a great deal of anxiety during the past month. The energy is quite powerful. Our nervous systems continue to be challenged.
In honor of the Taurus new Moon I offer a simple meditation of imagining yourself in a calm and peaceful place in nature. Take the time to feel the ground beneath you. Notice the difference between rocks and earth, grass and flowers. Imagine some water nearby: a calming pool, the slow rhythm of waves or the soft caress of a waterfall. As you imagine yourself in this place, imagine all of your plans and aspirations as a bundle of energy in front of you and all of your previous life's experiences as bundle of energy behind you. Breathe slowly and deeply into your heart, allowing this sense of past and future to soften, to dissolve into stillness. Imagine pure love coursing through your heart, filling your body to capacity, spreading into the scene around you.
When you are in alignment with your heart in the moment, in this vibration of stillness, you are capable of amazing creation. Your new ideas will manifest more easily, the anxiety and stress releases, and the foundation of your past is a solid foundation and not so much of a prison of habit pattern. The heart holds the love that is our healing balm and our anchor.
