Spring is upon us, and the mega-wattage of Aries is nipping at our heels, It’s time to burn away the extra baggage we may have collected during those insular winter months and beyond. If we want to spring into the new season, we can't do it with our homes, minds and bodies besieged with the extra weight of times past.
We must be willing to burn some bridges with an old way of life, which may symbolize saying goodbye to the things that no longer serve us. A good rule of thumb when going through our households is to make one of three decisions as soon as possible:

1. Trash It
2. Do It Now
3. Assign It
When in doubt, it's probably best to throw it out (especially if it's been over a year since you've used the item). Doing it now means just that: decide what to do with the item and make space for it immediately. Assigning it means handing over the responsibility to someone who can get the job done. The most important thing is to separate the essential from the inessential and get it done as soon as possible.
And remember, when it comes to clutter, there's no shame in asking for help. For those sentimental types who are holding onto childhood drawings or prom corsages, it's time to get creative. Take a photo of high school sports trophies before throwing them away. Those drawing from childhood? Scan them to a disc, pick a couple to frame or put them in a scrapbook.
Often times it's not that we have too much stuff, it's that we don't know how to store it. Packing things in a way that makes sense won't feel as burdensome as having an unsorted mess in a box. Be honest about the space you have and make a decision to trash it, take care of it or pass the burden along to someone who will handle it.
Going through your stuff isn't easy. Collecting clutter can become a bad habit that takes effort to combat. The pay off is that not only does your space look great -- you feel fantastic!
Again, a cosmic emphasis on Aries is welcoming in the new and releasing the old. Make this the year that your home is a true reflection of what you value and what makes you feel good. The support of the cosmos is behind you!
