The Stars This Week: July 9-15, 2012

Regroup!

With two planets turning retrograde this week, this is definitely the right time to stop and re-evaluate your plans! First, Uranus turns retrograde on July 13, when you're asked to embrace change. The following day, July 14, sees Mercury enter its own retrograde cycle, when communication snafus and misunderstandings hold back progress. Also on July 14, you receive a major reality check when the Cancer Sun squares Saturn in Libra. If there were ever a week to make patience your friend, this is it!

July 13: Uranus turns retrograde
This eccentric planet turns retrograde once a year, an annual event that shakes you out of ruts and routines no longer serving you. Disruptions and surprises can awaken you to important situations, even if they may turn out to be unpleasant. However, if you embrace the changes that are occurring not only in your life, but in the world as a whole, then you'll be able to make proactive choices that will help you in the long run. Indeed, this is a time to show yourself -- and everyone around you -- what you're made of! Check your own chart to learn which areas of your life will be affected during Uranus's retrograde period, which lasts for the next five months.

July 14: Mercury turns retrograde
While Mercury retrograde periods can often bring complications, consider this review beneficial since Mercury turns retrograde in Leo -- and forms good relationships in the process. If you do your due diligence, you'll be able to seal a few deals after Mercury turns direct on August 7. In the meantime, keep the flow (and your conversations!) moving in a positive direction. Of course, all the usual cautionary steps apply: Double-check reservations and travel plans, and most of all, don't assume anything!

July 14: The Sun squares Saturn
This aspect occurs twice a year and is an important part of the natural relationship between the Sun and Saturn. It signals a good time to weed out activities that aren't helping you, so start with those that completely exhaust you. This transit can teach you to become accountable to yourself and stop taking on responsibilities that drain your energy. Don't be afraid to delegate! Ask others to take on their fair share.
