The Stars This Week: October 1-7, 2012
A Brand New Chapter!

Set a new course as several planets enter new signs this week! Firstly, the love planet Venus enters helpful Virgo on October 2, when love flourishes through the smallest of kindnesses. Review what you've learned over the past few months as Jupiter begins its retrograde in Gemini on October 4. Then, Mercury enters secretive Scorpio on October 5, when you'll be able to discover answers to a mystery. Saturn's entrance into Scorpio later that same day marks a major transition for you; this is also one of the most important transits of the entire year. Finally, on October 6, Mars enters Sagittarius, at which point energy and enthusiasm motivates you to take action!

October 2: Venus enters Virgo
"A labor of love" is a phrase we use to describe doing something that's so heartfelt, the activity itself becomes its own pleasure. This could very well be Venus's motto when transiting through the industrious, yet caring sign of Virgo. Love blooms now in your most important relationships, so use this time to be helpful to those closest to you. These are uncertain times for many people. Commit random acts of kindness this month and your thoughtfulness will be returned tenfold!

October 4: Jupiter turns retrograde
Jupiter entered Gemini, the most curious sign in the zodiac, on June 11. The natural expansiveness of Jupiter always magnifies the traits of the sign it transits -- and in the case of Gemini, these traits are education, diversity and keeping an open mind. Hopefully, you've learned a thing or two over the last four months to help you plan for your future. However, not all data is valuable! As this big planet turns retrograde, review the wealth of information you've absorbed and figure out what's worth keeping and what can be thrown out. Jupiter's retrograde period continues until January 30, 2013.

October 5: Mercury enters Scorpio
If you've wanted to learn the truth about something that's been eluding you, now is the time! Each year, when the communication planet, Mercury, enters investigative Scorpio, your mind goes into overdrive like a caffeine-fueled detective on a 24-hour shift. Nothing gets past you, and nothing is beyond you. So, trust your intuition, pay attention to your feelings and listen to your gut instincts. At your best, you'll be able to focus your mind with laser-like precision, making this a terrific time to get just about anything done. Just watch out for a tendency to obsess, for if you find your mind looping around the same theme too often, it's clearly time to take a break. After all, attention helps ... and obsession hurts.

October 5: Saturn enters Scorpio
Saturn is the planet that describes how we structure our lives, where we set our boundaries and how we face our limits. This is the planet most concerned with responsibility and accountability. Every two-and-a-half years, Saturn enters a new sign. As Saturn leaves relationship-focused Libra and enters intense, powerful and private Scorpio, everybody's inner control freak surfaces, and nobody wants to be told what to do and how to live. During the length of this transit, you can help yourself by taking charge of your life in a new, brave and empowering way.

October 6: Mars enters Sagittarius
Put action planet Mars in restless, fun-loving and belief-driven Sagittarius, and you have an abundance of energy that needs a healthy outlet! This pairing can represent an overly zealous crusader or an enthusiastic supporter and advocate. Sagittarius is a sign concerned with philosophy, religion, ethics and morals, so count on hearing a great deal about these topics during this transit, which lasts until November 16.
