“When adversity strikes, that's when you have to be the most calm. Take a step back, stay strong, stay grounded and press on.”

-- LL Cool J

After the long-burning fires of Aries, the Sun moves into the peaceful terrain of Taurus on April 19, reminding us to slow down and get back into our bodies. After weeks of cruising at reckless speed with so many planets stacked up in Aries, we slowly begin to return to our senses, literally. It’s time to ground and savor the moments.

Taurus is the sign of voice and embodiment, so choosing activities that support both creative expression and feeling good in our bodies are favored now. Taurus is a fixed Earth sign, which means our stubborn qualities will come forth, so we may need to work harder to cultivate flexibility. The more we feel pushed, the more we’ll want to dig our heels in, because after the fast pace of Aries, we’re now ready to take our sweet time.

Taurus is ruled by sensuous Venus, quite a contrast to the Mars energy of Aries where competition, individuality and ego rule. Venus craves connection and pleasure. We have an opportunity now to live through all five senses and take everything in with leisure and pleasure. There’s no need to rush.

The Taurus Sun invites us to ground and reconnect with the Earth element. We are more apt to choose what feels good over other values. We’re more sensitive and responsive to sight, sound, texture, taste and scent. It’s time to indulge the body with long walks, delicious meals and sensual treatments.
