“I like work -- it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.”
-- Jerome Kerns
The Sun enters the earthy, mutable cluster of stars of the Virgin on August 22, marking the transition from summer frivolity to the back-to-work energy of Virgo. If we’ve abandoned our schedule and our daily rituals, the Virgo Sun helps us to get back on track as Virgo rules process and refinement.
Now is the time when we are asked to put in the hard work to sustain that which we love -- the dirty work, so to speak. Virgo is the sign of service, health and assimilation. It rules the intestines, the part of the body that literally has to decipher what the body needs versus what it does not. We must do the same in our life. There is always a simplification and de-cluttering process that occurs when Virgo is involved.
For maximum efficiency, we need a clean slate from which to start. This is why many people cannot focus when their desks are a mess and will often start cleaning before they can really dive into a project. Virgo is also the sign of details and planning. What is needed to make the work or the process more perfect? More importantly, what needs to be removed for greatest efficiency and productivity? The same way the intestines eliminate toxins or anything without nutrition, we’re being asked to eliminate all that is superfluous in our lives.
Virgo is also the sign of analysis and problem-solving abilities. In tarot, it is the archetype of the Hermit: the way-shower, the guide, the solitary seeker. This is a good time to seek out guides we trust, but first and foremost to take time in solitude to access our own inner Hermit for guidance and direction. You have all the answers within. What is needed is time, space and daily rituals to access your own inner healer
