"The love inside...You take it with you."
- Patrick Swayze in Ghost
With a Sun and Moon in Leo, Patrick Swayze was had a double dose of creative force. A physical presence, imagination and the drive to express himself to the edge. "...He will gut her like a pig and make sure he doen't get any on his shoes" he said in Point Break, leveling with Keanu Reeves character with the intensity of a pointed blade. Those who knew him described him as having a huge heart. He did seem to exude a generosity of spirit, especially in his roles in Ghost and Dirty Dancing. There was something romantic about and infectious about him. He was a cowboy at heart, maintaining a ranch house complete with his beloved horses at his ranch house in which he kept the company of the love of his life - his wife Lisa Niemi.
More than give a biography of Patrick Swayze's life, I'd like to delve a bit into his Sun, Moon and Ascendant or primal triad. With all that Leo energy -- and the Sun and Moon being the most influential as far as one's character -- there was definitely a thrust in Patrick's life to express himself creatively; to share a gift with the rest of the world. His Sun and Moon were both in his 11th house, although I would actually read his Sun, which was within 5 degrees from the powerful cusp position at the 12th house, as being more relvant as far as where his solar energy was directed.
When I look at pictures of Patrick Swayze - which are in ample supply on you tube tributes, mostly against the backdrop of his "She's Like the Wind" vocals - he seems to embody that otherworldliness in his stare, a sensitivity and great openess as is definitely any important attribute if one is to try on dfferent roles in any acting career.
Leo is the creative - the fire - the urge to create something out of nothing and share it. Something very interesting happens when you drop that outward-directed energy in the more self-reflective piece of the chart. I would say this greatly aided his ability as an artist, encouraging a compassionate understanding of the characters he portrayed and the combination of Leo and Piscean energy allows a dramatic expression of internal processes.
His Leo Moon in the 11th paints the picture of one who's community is very important to him and one in which he seeks the validation (Leo) of his peers (11th house). It seems being accepted in the artistic community was very important to him on a feeling level and a carrer in the arts any apt choice given that Leo would feel right at home with creative, fun-loving types (not to say all actors are necessarily fun-loving).
As I've been finding lately with more than a few celebrities, Swayze had a strong Putoninan signature - Pluto conjunct the Sun. This was also true of Michael Jackson which I wrote about a few blogs backs, pulling him up as symbol of his generation, a playboy of the artistic zeitgeist. Leo is fighter enough on its own, but if you add Pluto to the mix, it lends even more teeth and makes for a real survivalist. He was a fighter until the very end and more than that, a compelling and multi-talented artist remembered fondly by friends and family.
