There's No "I" in Team: Aquarius at Work

The Sun is in his detriment in Aquarius.

This doesn’t mean that the Sun is weak or indeed downtrodden in Aquarius, just that he is operating from a different plane.

In Leo (where he is ruler) and Aries (where he is exalted) the Sun is in his true element- Fire. All others gravitate to him and orbit around him. His warmth is that of creativity and discovery and courage. The Sun is the essential flame of the ego.

In Aquarius, however, the ego matters little. Rather, the ego is satisfied when the needs of the group, the team, the cause or the revolution or, indeed, humanity are met. In Aries and Leo, personal identity is everything. In Aquarius, personal identity is often lost in the mix.

So how then does Aquarius fit into corporate structure? Generally speaking, with difficulty...particularly if Uranus is also strong in the chart. With Saturn as your traditional ruler, Aquarius understands the need for structure and order, but she also knows that shaking that up can be how progress is achieved.

Aquarius in the workplace is either a free thinking, revolutionary, outside the box, radical, genius and renegade or an uncontrollable, eccentric, stubbornly stuck, radical, revolutionary, radical and loose cannon. Depending on your point of view.

So, what job would suit Aquarius, or someone with Aquarius on the Midheaven? Scientist? Astro Physicist? Inventor? IT Developer? Aid Worker? Electrician? Revolutionary? Protest Group Organiser? Town Planner? Science Fiction Author? Absolutely, all of the above. And more.

One of my closest friends has Aquarius on the Midheaven. She is also a banker- in a pretty large corporate structure. With lots of rules and regulations and things that you absolutely have to follow if you are going to be a banker. With the ruling planet for her career zone (Saturn) falling in the 11th house, she does her best work in groups.

In true Aquarian style, she will fight for changes to outdated policies or rules which no longer work. She is always one of the first in her office to adopt new technology and, way too often for my liking, puts the needs of the organisation as a whole, ahead of herself.

As a boss my friend expects her staff to leave their personal problems at home. She also expects them to think innovatively, independently and will, in return treat them with fairness and confidence.

Anyways, what I am trying, in a round about way, to say, is that regardless what job an Aquarius does, he or she will bring Aquarian inventiveness in some way, shape or form, to the role.
