Understanding a Badly Behaved Family Member

A family member has behaved badly. Instead of going into confrontation mode, try first to understand what has made them act so badly by exploring the tendencies of their Sun sign.

Aries can be tactless to the extreme, brash and unthinking about the consequences of their actions. They do mellow through life and learn compassion, but it takes time.

Behind their placid exterior, Taurus can be self-centered and likes being in control. At times they seem indifferent to anyone else’s needs. Changing their attitude takes prolonged effort.

Gemini can be mischievous and, if pushed to extremes, can be unkind. They’re not always straightforward, so pinning them down can be tricky. They genuinely don’t understand how their cool detachment hurts others.

Cancer is moody and can be quite contrary, saying one thing and doing another. They can also be vengeful in rather subtle ways, which is how they protect themselves. You must appeal to their heart to get results.

Leo can be vain, pompous and patronizing, and rarely admit they’re wrong. That said, they’re warmhearted and generally mean well. Best to appeal to their sweeter nature and avoid deflating their pride.

Virgo can be critical, self righteous and high strung, which makes them act erratically and speak sharply at times. Once they calm down, they’re usually reasonable about admitting their faults.

Libra can be snobbish, superior and narrow-minded. They’re adept at put-downs. But on the whole, they’re fair minded and good at seeing the other viewpoint. If they have acted badly, they’ll usually own up to it.

Scorpio’s worst trait is vengefulness. They never forgive and forget, and tend to only get their own backs. Best to find the root of their anger, and convince them you really do care.

Sagittarius can be overly boisterous, brutally honest and self-righteous. There’s no persuading them that they were wrong because they’ll talk you around in circles. That said, they’re not malicious and their bad behavior was probably just a blunder.

Capricorn can be pessimistic, overly conventional and snobbish. They hate to admit wrongdoing, but they know better than most that what goes around comes around. Eventually they’ll clear their conscience by owning up.

Aquarius can be brutally honest, cold and stubborn. Appeal to their zany sense of humor and you’ll get a heart-to-heart about their misdeeds. Ultimately their original detachment helps them see where they went wrong in the first place.

Pisces easily get led astray and can be surprisingly cold about the needs of others. Often they won’t admit they’re wrong because they’ve convinced themselves they’re right. They’re very good at redesigning reality to suit their needs.
